FIBA Diamond Ball Tourney Results (Men)

I watched a bit of Iran v Arg and the Iranians have definitely improved since they toured Oz.

However the Argies have some problems. They are actually quite a small team with Gonzalez at 211cm and Oberto at 208cm their biggest guys (and Gonzalez didn't play much).

The Iranians were really able to exploit this, and with Ehadadi dominating, they were able to score quite easily inside and killed the Argies on the boards. If it wasn't for the fact that the Iranian guards are so TO prone, I reckon the Argies would have lost!

If the Boomers get to play Argentina, I really think they can beat them. The key is for our guards to take care of the ball and to try and force the Argies into a half court game. If we do that, I think our size advantage will give us an advantage at both ends.

Looking forward to see how the Aussies handle China tonight. We need to beat them convincingly to show we are headed in the right direction.

Seeming as it wasn't published on the NBL's site I e-mailed Marc from the NBL. 4,638 up only 240 tickets on the 4,398 who attended against Townsville.

Not sure if this is expected or not in terms of the conditions for a casual fan. Sure, the game was on a Saturday night at a later time, (no work to rush home from to go to the game) but it was against the celler dwellers from last year, a potential deterent. Additionally Brad Newly may have attracted some fans to the game against the Townsville, but fans could have stayed away due to it being on Fox.

I know the couple of games last year against New Zealand attracted some New Zealand fans in Aus, so hopefully a few will come out this week, along with some casual fans who have seen the team playing well and get it above 5,000.

The other unpublished crowd figure was for Brisbane - West Sydney, being 2,200. Damn well looked more than 2,200 on television to me.
