Why is Goorjian still coaching Australia?
Squid- Fair point, but im pretty sure that the Aust Open and things like that generate more cash and tourism than womens basketball does. Sad, but true.
Its such a unique coaching role, in that you really have no time to build a team structure.
You have a team filled with players from all different types of leagues, scattered across the globe.
We are not going to beat the Euro teams at their own game.
We need a coach that can think outside the square. Someone like Don Nelson, a coach that will be different. Like it or not we are not a top 5 b-ball nation, so we need a coach that can pull a few tricks out of the bag.
I know he has received much criticism from this site- but would Phil be a good option to coach the national team now?
At the time i remember he spoke of not being able to dedicate enough time to coaching both the 36ers and the Boomers, well now i think he would have the time.
