Thoughts on 36ers' signing: Mark Tyndale
Dusty's days as an import are numbered. This conversation was never intended to be an argument over whether Dusty would have been a good pick up or not and I really don't want to continue down that path. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and there is really no right or wrong but individual preference.

His stats from the Temple Owls. I do believe I read his position as being a guard despite the fact that his rebound tally is pretty good for a guard.

You raise a good point Isaac, except I don't think he would have been coming off the bench behind Holmes. With Dusty you have a consistent 20 and 10. Budget that into your long term plans for the team and know exactly what you are getting. And to think he was not only available but willing, yet the Sixers persisted with Hodge for so long. Apart from that, yes I would have thought it was a waste of a good import spot to have him come off the bench without making considerations for the quality of the player that he is. You would have to say then that if a good starter import is recruited (assuming that is the intention with Tyndale), he will need to be a better player. Particularly if he is a forward which I doubt. I believe he is a guard.

As I keep saying billo, I know nothing about him and that the Sixers were hell bent on signing another guard. I didn't research him because my arguments were never intended to go that deeply. It was just a simple "waste of an import spot" if he comes off the bench. Don't forget the word "if". I am definitely not making any conclusions here. What annoyed me was that my initial comments should never have attracted criticism about my negativity because there was nothing negative about it. I am actually quite looking forward to the new season. I hope all my reservations about the signings will result in proven success. The only reason I have reservations is because there are so many new recruits and whilst any individual player might have a good record, they have not played together. I am passionate about this team just as anyone and would love to see them do well. I have renewed my season ticket and there was never any question about doing that. I have stuck by the team through the last 2 years in particular knowing that the tide was going to change eventually and looking forward to it.

billo, what is it that you don't understand about what the original anonymous poster said. He/she asked if he will start or come off the bench. They are reasonable questions to ask if you don't know much or anything about a particular player. My response (coming from someone who knows just as little or even less about him) was that it would be a waste of an import spot if he wasn't starter material. I don't know if he is or is not. All I know is that Tyndale has taken the spot that the Sixers were holding for Hodge. I would hope that a comparable player has been chosen as his replacement. However, I will have a comment about this coming season's roster. I think its way too guard heavy. I would have preferred another forward. We have a small team and an extra player with some height and solid build would have served us well when faced with some of the bigger bodies in the league. Particularly because 2 of the bigger players are also injury prone. Doesn't leave you much size if they go out to injury.

#198839 get your head out of your backside and stop criticising for the sake of it. I said nothing negative about Tyndall. I asked if anyone knew much about him because I have never heard of him. If I don't know a thing about him, I am not in a position to say anything negative (nor positive) about him. I also responded to someone else's post about him coming off the bench which I thought would be a waste of a good import spot if that is what we are seeking. Considering he was the option when it became clear that Hodge wasn't coming, I would have thought the the Sixers would be looking at this level of player to fill Hodge's position. There have been mixed comments regarding the quality of the team this coming season. Many are excited about it whilst some say they are top 6 at best. If I have to apologise for expecting better than 6th, then so bit it.

Tought gig for Tyndale, has some massive shoes to fill. I just hope the haters give him some time to fit in before calling for his head, remembering not only is he a new import to the league, we pretty much have a new team nucleus too.

I see him as a bit of a glue guy- keeps the whole team together. Balls/Maher and Bruce will create. Luke/Jacob and Brad will defend and Tyndale will do everything these guys miss.
Tough season ahead, new team, new coach. Patience needed by us fans but i think it will be worth it in the long run. Adelaide- title town for Mahers testimonial year?

No problem with Imports coming off them bench, as long as they are not getting paid bucket loads more than the starters, Then it becomes a waste of an import space. I think there will be 8 guys that play pretty even minutes on the roster this year, they certianly have plenty of depth.

Does anyone really know much about him. I have never heard of him so have no idea what to expect. All I can say is what a waste of an import spot if he is not starter material.
