ABL Final - Pissed Off
I don't support either team but went because I love a good game of basketball. With Norwood and Eagles coming together for a grand final, it was inevitable that a great game would be played. I can't think of anything else I could have done last night that would have been half as exciting as this game and for $10 plus $2 for parking, it was entertainment money extremely well spent. You did not have to support either teams to appreciate a game that is going to stick in your mind for a long time to come. My bet now is that Webber is going to practice that shot a hundred times and probably wont even make it once. The God's were looking down at him last night as though to say that Norwood was the deserving team to win and took a hand in ensuring it happened.

One has to ask if his water was laced. He looked like he had already hit the grog. Can't blame him though for the level of excitement he obviously showed and no doubt feeling.

Thread originator - "Some guy from Norwood heaves up a half assed shot from half way and it goes in off the glass." This nameless guy happens to be Andrew Webber, top scorer for the night and Grand Final MVP. If someone had to be blessed with that last shot, who do you think deserved it more? If Eagles wanted the win they should have done more. I cannot understand why such a decorated player like Peter Hoban only contributed 6 points in 28 minutes. Amongst all the "what ifs", this one should rank highly amongst them.

Tthe refs were absolutely biased and did everything they could to help Forestville win in that fourth quarter - non calls on fouls against Norwood and calls on absolutely soft stuff - absolute rubbish and I felt for the Norwood guys on court in that fourth quarter. Glad that Webber hit that shot - I'm sure that was something that the basketball gods intervened in, to ensure that whilst the refs weren't looking out for it, that justice prevailed and Norwood got the win that they deserved. I was so cut just before that shot that they weren't going to get the win, and when it went in, I was absolutely ecstatic for the Norwood boys...
And before you say I'm a Norwood supporter... if you asked me who I followed in CABL, I'd say North. Great game, and the deserving team got the win in the end. Congrats Norwood.

Kent,
"Hoban makes foul shot game would have been over" correction - game would have gone to OT as there was still time on the clock for Norwood to pass that ball and Webber get it in just in the nick of time.

#199577, that is the exact position I am in. I am not a supporter of either teams but did go hoping to see Norwood win. I guess its because I felt sorry for them last year and thought how well they have done to make the finals again. Apart from the fact that they were the superior team for most of the game tonight, they are also the team that made their second consecutive appearance in a grand final this year, unlike Forestville that missed out last year. I am so glad I went because I thought it was one of the best games I have ever seen. The last 3.5 seconds was like something out of a movie. You can just see it played in slow motion because 3.5 seconds is not long enough to let the excitement of it sink in, it just happens so quickly.

Sour grapes. Forestville trailed for more than 3/4 of the game. They came good in the last quarter, but it just wasn't enough. Simple as that. The team that deserved the championship more, won it.
