Where did the Boomers finish?

7th. We tied on record with Croatia and Greece, but we finished 4th in our group where they finished third. They both finish ahead of us.

I ahve Australia as 6th as they had the same record as Greece but a better point spread. Croatia get Australia on highjer place finish in group due to their head to head advance only.

Posted below is from the FIBA Olympic website, and hopefully should help us work it out:

Classifications

Places 11 - 12
The teams ranked 6th in each group of the Preliminary Round shall be classified for the places 11-12 according to the following criteria:

1. Win-loss record in their Preliminary Round group.
2. If both teams have same win-loss record, the classification will be determined by the goal average (by division) taking into account the results of all games played in their respective group.

Example 1:

Win Loss
Team A6 0 5
Team B6 1 4

Final standings:
11th place: team B6
12th place: team A6

Example 2:

Win Loss Score Goal average
Team A6 0 5 368:419 0.8783
Team B6 1 4 307:416 0.7380

Final standings:
11th place: team A6
12th place: team B6

Places 9 - 10
The teams ranked 5th in each group shall be classified for the places 9-10 according to the same principles as for the places 11-12.

Places 5 - 8
The 4 teams eliminated in the Quarter-Finals will form one group and shall be classified for the places 5-8 according to the following criteria:

1. Win-loss record in their Preliminary Round group.
2. If teams have the same win-loss record, the classification will be determined by the standings of the teams in their respective Preliminary Round group.
3. If two teams have the same standings, the classification will be determined by the goal average (by division) taking into account the results of all games played in their respective group.

The example of the determination of the final standings of 4 teams eliminated in the Quarter-Finals:

Win Loss Score Goal average
Team A1 5 0 505:359 1.4067
Team A3 3 2 372:339 1.0973
Team B3 3 2 408:407 1.0025
Team A4 3 2 367:328 1.1189

Final standings:
5th place: team A1 (best win-loss record)
6th place: team A3 (same position as B3 but higher goal average)
7th place: team B3 (same position as A3 but lower goal average)
8th place: team A4 (lower position as A3 and B3)

So in evaluiating all this:

Positions 1-4 = USA, Spain, Argentina & Lithuania
5th Croatia
6th Australia
7th Greece
8th China
9th Russia
10th Germany
11th Iran
12th Angola

Can someone clarify that I have calculated this right?
