Tigers draw crowds that fill up the entire Cage. The only reason they didn't fill it up last night was because the AFL was on.
Usually, the Tigers get full capacity crowds. The reason they dont get any bigger is because the Cage isn't bigger enough AND because the prices are quite expensive. You can tell the Tigers franchise gets good money from the games, because it can afford to pay salaries to guys like Ere,Grizzard, Anstey and SammyMac.
Like a lot of NBL teams, the Tigers do little in promoting the game at grass roots level. This is one of the reasons the NBL has been struggling.
Playing in a 'boutique' 3500 seat stadium doesn't help, and the icing on the cake is the exhorbitant ticket prices.
So while the NBL is policing this non existent salary cap, they are not laying any ground rules regarding promoting the sport. That is a most selfish attitude of the Tigers to do that.
Tigers have approx 200 seats under $30. The rest are from $30-$58.
They make a profit pulling 2,000-2,500 per game so I guess it works for them why drastically change it.
