Sack Ninnis!

Lack of passion was a topic discussed under the previous coach. What has changed under this coach? If anyone wants the challenge of answering that question, just remember the only acceptable answer will come when we are sitting a lot higher that 9th on the ladder.

i thought we wanted the game saturday night. i dont think we need 9 other hodge-like guys out there throwing there fist in the air and waving there arms at the crowd to show they wanna win. in my opinion the problem is defence. 110 to sydeny 106 to south (points given up) isnt gonna win u many games. ive heard a few complaints about the offence in the past few weeks, but ive heard lots about how bruce gets beat, hill cant guard anyone, tyndale couldnt guard anyone now hodge being lazy on ingles. anyone ever wonder why a phoenix suns team with nash, stoudamire, marion, barbosa, grant hill couldnt win? no defence. Ninnis came in as coach talking up how important it was for us to be good defensively, and im to the point i wanna start seeing some d or im going to start agreeing with the title on this thread.

DDFan, if I spent a lot of money on a good quality product, I would expect it to perform to perfection straight away.

Isaac, Maher was out there at the end, he hit the last 3 with a ew seconds to go. IIRR he came on when Hodge went off.

Isaac, thats exactly why I was worried about the last 2 games. It reflects on the team as a whole and what Ninnis is doing about it. He has his man now, there cannot be anymore excuses except injury to key players and even then I would expect more than one to be out at the same time to make a difference to the strength of the team.

Isaac, thanks for your input. I accept what you say as there is merit in the points you have made. Let's hope the rest of the season will be injury free and certainly is already Tyndale free. This no doubt will bring us right back to where we should be. The problem I still have with the season so far is not the injured players that left the team depleted but the healthy ones who have all had their inconsistencies this season. Injured players alone would not have been the cause for most of the losses. What has bothered me more than anything this last 2 games that Hodge has played is not the fact that he is a new inclusion and we would not see the benefit of this so early, but the fact that his results in his first 2 games have been exceptional and yet still the losses came. I would not be expecting a better stat line from Hodge going forward as what he has already produced. This should have been enough to win games. One a side note, I have no problem with Tyndale as an individual. I don't know much about him but have no doubt that he is a wonderful guy. He just did not fit into the team and for the sole purpose of competing in the NBL, his situation had to change. Its nothing personal.

Sacking a coach mid season is assinine. I have never been a Ninnis disciple, which I'm sure keeps him awake at night. But I think he lost the game on Saturday when he subbed out Brett in the last few minutes. Brett had hit a couple of jumpers that meant he had to be defended, when they brought Hill in the Goons new that his first and sometimes his only thought is to drive to the basket. They just clogged up the centre which consequently nullified our best offensive player and left one of our most reliable shooters off the court in the vital last minutes. I believe a crucial coaching decision that may have cost us the game.

Scott should be allowed to see the year out but every effort should be made to find an experienced coaching panel for next year and beyond.

TR, the question is...which one?

For me Ninnis isn't the problem; you need to look at the Assistant coaching more than anything.

The real downside of the team is the guards this season; which I think tends to be due to lack of direction from the coaches.

I think Bruce could easily be a 20/10 player as he showed in his first game, but I think his issue is that he isn't being focused on or directed properly by the coaching staff. Ninnis needs to get more into his assisting staff and tell them to shape up and get into the young guys more.

As KingJames basically said, this team is a Championship contender (if not winner) and that's just from rep and stats alone. If you can't win with this team; you've got to look at the coaching. I think Ninnis should be given more of a chance but he needs to get his coaching staff working and molding the younger guys; specifically Bruce.

I would say we under-acheived due to bad luck with injuries. Friday is a mystery to me, that 3players get 71points and 40 rebounds and we lose.
Saturday a lot was due to being held onto and knocked into, and the game not being refereed evenly.

The 36ers have a talented line up which could be winning a lot more games. They are currently sitting 2nd to last on the ladder. Someone please explain this. I am waiting for someone to give a perfectly logical explanation of this situation that will exclude coach involvement. As someone else has pointed out in another thread, he may be a rookie coach and should be given a chance to prove himself, but the problem is that he has a decent team right now. Please explain because with the right explanation, I could be converted.

About 12 above are right behind Ninnis and about 2 seem to agree with the topic.

I read in the Advertiser an article by Boti Nagy that the sixers appointed a rookie coach. Which is fine.
But a mistake was made having a rookie coach and inexperienced assistants.

I am right behind Scott, Richard and Liam.

The team has been challenged by short term issues, not any long term issues. The team is cohesive and strong. Yes, we have been challenged with injuries, poor umpiring, difficult road trips...but the most important half of the season is the second half.

Would like to see some more 3PAs from the team, but the plays are essentially good. What what I have seen and heard from the side lines, Scott is pretty strategic, Liam looks like he is the backcourt guru and Tricky Dicky the front court.

I am looking forward to seeing Scotty and Mahersey lift the trophy at the end of the season with the dejected 'Goons looking on.

Can we do it? Yes we can!
