The Age: Tigers withdraw from NBL

I'd go ahead with less teams (NZ might get a title lol) and then expire the Tigers/Dragons licences and charge em again to join the new league on 2010/11 season. Call it "wanker tax".

I like the idea of a league with say 3-5 SEABL teams filling the gaps, they should stick to their criteria but give these teams a 1 year interim license where they do not have to put up the $1m guarantee and drop the cap a bit for this season also so these teams can be somewhat competitive, even if they still make up the bottom of the ladder.
I say teams like 36ers should be allowed in on similar grounds but then if they wish to stay in the have to meat the criteria for the next season, this gives us a league and doesnt compromise all the criteria in the long run and gives clubs like the 36ers a extra year to sort out the funds.
Good on BA for not lettin cowan and mcpeak controll them! Owners exerting too much power is what caused the problems with nbl, im all for a independent board/BA running the NBL, right or wrong i think they should be given the chance to do it there way and not be controlled by owners, the owners more and less had there chance and that didnt work so its BA's turn.
If that means a few walk away well so be it.
Cowan and McPeakes over spending on rosters were some of the reasons clubs were going broke as they couldnt keep up and died trying, so not having them and having a smaller budget league may be a better way forward and make it profitable.
I agree with Gaze on not just letting them walk in and out should they ever want back in they should pay the $1m lisence fee,
Goood luck to BA and i look forward to the next season!
