206,
We should aim for no Div 1 byes. You can't have kids that live in one area that should be playing for one club go to a different club.
Why do some kids (ala parents) prefer to play Div 2 when they could play Div 1 at a neighbouring club?
I would like to see a zone approach in Adelaide, but I know that would disadvantage some clubs so can't see it happening

Yes, unfortunately have for a short period of time with work - gave my mother an excuse to brag to the old Hackney High mums.
You need to get out of Adelaide to make you appreciate Sleepy Hollow

Anon 2117,
I have said it before many times on this forum. The average Adelaidian is spoilt when it comes to travel. Try living in a typical Australian mainland capital city where a hour drive is normal. Unfortunately, there are too many softies who grew up in one suburb and now live as adults in the same suburb, or within 5 km of where they went to primary school. C'mon, you guys know you live in a bubble.
For many Adelaidians, a long trip is a trip from Glenelg to Burnside Village to chase down a bargain.
The issue with the BSA comp is that there is not enough far away teams. The VJBL teams regularly travel to Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat for games - shock, horror !!
Imagine if there was a true state comp and pulled in country association teams. Fancy teams like Murray Bridge Bullets, Great Southern Slammers, Willunga Wildcats or Barossa Settlers getting their act together and regularly putting teams into the comp. If that was the case, then the company car would get the miles up then!

Maybe BSA are trying to prove a point to clubs that don't want to follow their suggestions.
Regional Comps mean less travel, so travel now Whinge now and we will win??

Does anyone recall that the Morphett Vale stadium is having the floors ripped up at end of November/ beginning of December? Maybe this is why they've scheduled Southern home games early in the summer season - there probably won't be a MV stadium until well into 2010, knowing how things ALWAYS blow out when you undergo renovations to anything! We all know about the reno job that was supposed to take three months and took six!

Just to clarify, it would be different if everyone travelled to a ten court stadium in centre of Adelaide, but when Mavs "home" games are a Wayville, Centrals "home" games are at Hillcrest and Norwood "home" games are Morphett Vale, then something is seriously wrong.

It continues to make me smile when I read posts saying Morphett Vale (yes its 2 words not 1) is sooooo far away to play at. Used to take 20 mins to Marion and Pas maybe 30 to Wayville when my kids played to get from MV. If their courts are the only ones available so be it. Do you hear constant gripes about Tiger teams having to travel every other week- they just are used to it and do it. Adelaide is NOT such a huge city that distance is a main hinderance. I do agree that its difficult on a Thursday nite to get down south by 6-15 and it may seem silly those 2 teams having to travel but as I said, if thats the only court available just do it! The use of other stadiums is a step forward and I would have thought getting more people playing the game is the most important thing? I know Soccer families that travel from South to North each week to have games, we have been spoilt too long by thinking we still live in a 20 minute city- its getting longer from A to B. But please dont refer to MV as the sticks, maybe Aldinga and Sellicks!

There are some VERY strange "home" stadiums - this is a friggin joke BSA!
Don't you want people to play ball anymore?
