Just heard on 5AA Mike Rann said former AFL chief Wayne Jackson is going to step in as an independant advisor to help Bruce Carter get basketball back on track.

It's also been on the news on MIX FM and Cruise.

(These Rann quotes are me paraphrasing quite roughly to keep up with the radio.)

Rann: "if the government hadn't stepped in, basketball in South Australia would've been placed in voluntary administration within a few of weeks."

What would that mean for the Sixers/Fellas?

Rann: "Basketball in SA would've been out of business, and closed down. It's not just the 36ERS. There are 40,000+ basketballers. Basketball has been plagued by problems over the years."

What's the solution?

Rann: "They saw Foley in December, suggesting a $200,000 loss. Came back since to report a $1.2m loss. The board has agreed to step aside. Bruce Carter will administer the body. Wayne Jackson will be an independent expert. Rather than it being a constant bottomless pit, turn it around to make it a viable opportunity."

Rann's purposefully appointed a financial expert (Carter) and a sporting expert (Jackson) to try and get things on track.
