Richard Hill to move into off-court role

True Blue, what is Hill's injury? What is it that is serious enough to continue for half a season but not serious enough to stop him playing right through?

I too would be interested in seeing Kevin Brooks take up a coaching role, he should atleast be considered as an assistant coach. I have spoken to him at a few of the games (i dont know him personally but just chatted to him as a fan) and i asked him if he was interested in coaching or getting involved in coaching in the NBL to which he replied "hell yeh". He has experience he should be considered, whats the worst that could happen? finish on the bottom of the ladder? lol.

"Put together a team thought to be competative, within some budget restraint." Ninnis said on radio.
"Perhaps did not appear to be as talented as NZ and Melbourne - but they didn't make the finals!
Certainly, I never expected to have this and the season review goes on with regard to everything - coaches players, to make sure that this never happens again. Ballinger Burston Herbert Ng suiting for the 36ers for many years is desired."

Don't forget Brad was also playing thru injury half the season too...not an excuse but could contribute to his inconsistent play...

I have nothing to explain Saturday night, but one thing could be, he wanted to be the hero to keep his position on the team, prove to the fans he is a keeper (obviously didn't work lol)...hey just throwing it out there!

Skud - I'll take a little nibble...

Firstly, I am an unabashed supporter of Australian home grown basketball talent, and I believe the vast majority of my thread replies support this. Therefore I make no apolopies in supporting a young Australian player over any import.

There is a big difference between an import and a young Australian player in the NBL. An import is brought in, generally paid a lot more money, and is expected to perform game in game out. And whilst we would obviously love to see this in our homegrown talent also, history shows imports have been and will continue to be judged a lot more critically than a local player whether you like it or not. Personally, I would rather see an import moved on rather than an Australian.

There are clearly arguments for an against the retention of Brad Hill. I merely suggested the statement made by the first anonymous post was a bit harsh.

Brad Hill played under Goorjian the previous season with the Dragons and was a lot more consistent in his performances and was beginning to lift the lid on his potential. IMO, moving back to Adelaide to play under Ninnis appears to have set his progress back a step or two. Is it the team? Is it the player? Or perhaps, is it the coach? Maybe a combination of all three...

I believe Brad Hill may yet realise his potential and is still likely to be a very good player in the NBL. Whether that is at Adelaide or not is yet to be determined.

Why would people have Stacker as an assistant to Ninnis and not the other way around?

Richard Hill stepping aside was the only chance Brad had of staying on perhaps?

I think Richard has a bit more fiery in the belly and more vocal than Ninnis, but without ever seeing him being a head coach perhaps it's like his son, potential.

I'd keep Brad but bring someone in (pay brett maher) to teach him some court smarts!

"Ninnis is meeting with the board, right now." - on TV news. "Discussing changes - most likely asking for an experienced assistant coach."

Brad Hill has potential.

But sometimes it's best for that player to grow to their full potential with another club. Hill seems to stagnate here; might be worth having him under another coaching group. Someone like Joey Wright or Al Westover or Rob Beveridge may be able to get more out of Brad.

He may be good in a few years, but there's only so long you can wait. I'd prefer it if he became a star through non-sixer means and then having the Sixers bid to get him back. Would be better for him methinks.

Had to be done. Hopeless position of conflict of interest, notwithstanding that I bet he had the best of intentions. Good decision by Richard.

As for Brad, in my view you can't retain a guy on the offchance someone else may find him useful. Either he is right for this team or he is not. Evidence to date suggests that he has very little to offer.

I am not so sure about this so called 'potential' he has. Brett Rainbow was athletic and could throw down a great dunk. It didn't make him an NBL basketballer. At the end of the day, to fulfill his potential Brad needs to re-wire his brain, and basketball smarts is the hardest thing to learn. In my view, he is already too old to learn it. He is no Joe Ingles or Brad Newley that we should be too worried about letting him 'get away'.

He hurt us badly against the hawks. when i was watching brad hill in overtime he was playing like his 4 team mates were on the bench and it was him against 5. screw his potential, he needs to stop thinking about himself and use his team mates more. but with the season over its time for him to move on (if anyone would ever pick him up). not meaning to be harsh but there have been too many stuff ups on his behalf with regard to turnovers and ball hogging at crucial times when he isnt the hero he thinks he is.

"Sometimes it can be addition by subtraction. In this case, as I stated, it's a risk I'm willing to roll with."

Fair call too TR, i just dont think this is the last we've seen of B. Hill either with the sixers or not.

I know there's alot of Brad Hill haters out there, and the people who like him keep going on about his "potential", i personally think he has massive potential, and all its gonna take is a couple of break out games and he'll be back on the radar of every team in the league IMO

So i would be willing to give him another season, and i agree with LC, let him go and he'll hurt us...Eventually!

Bit hard on Brad Hill...if he moves on he is likely to hurt the 6ers on court at some stage.
