Hoops FNBL - Round 1
I've seen how much damage he did now. He was too quick and mobile for the Tigers bigs as I suspected.
Why the Tigers signed Nevill AND Helliwell I'll never know. They were horribly slow with no player movement on offence and it meant that the Kings could pressure the hell out of the ball carriers who had no-one to pass to.
I saw some people were bagging Devendorf in the other thread, but I thought he looked like he will be okay. I thought he ended up shooting some bad shots because no-one was giving him a decent passing option!
I thought Kaz would have a big impact this season and almost took him with my first pick, but the NBL's tendency to be a guard oriented league made me go for Winder instead. I hope Winder doesn't make me regret that decision!

Well Bean....he had a good game, and on the form he showed tonight I think Ill be playing him in my starting 5 a bit this year :)

FFS, I just walked through the door and your post was the first thing I read Skip. So how much did Khazzouh go off? 60... 70 points? Just how screwed am I this week?

I wouldnt write things off that fast Beantown, he hasnt played in Oz for a long while and his team could be OK - or completely rooted. If its the latter Id expect to see heaps of their imports jacking up crap and trying to make a name for themselves individually thus leaving the centre with limited opportunities...
Time will tell....damm i cant wait for this season to start!!!!!!

Yup and guess who the lucky sacrifice is! I'm pencilling this round in as a loss already.
Thanks for organising the comp again Skip. Looking forward to the opener tonight. As much as I like Khazzouh, I'm hoping the Great Wall of Tigers will make it an unhappy night for him!

Here we go, the Hackers squad to get the season off to a hopefully flying start is as follows
C Julian Khazouh (captain)
F Mika Vukona
F Jacob Holmes
G Kevin Lisch
C Ayinde Ubaka
Bench
Daryl Corletto
Tyson Demos
Pero Vasilevic
Resting up for next week
Jeremiah Trueman
Alex Pledger
Good luck everyone and thanks again to Skip for organising everything again this season :)

Well that's what I get for not doing research. Starting C injured in rd 1.
DB's 5
Bruton
Harvey (cappo)
Grizzard
McCullogh
Dowdell
Hoare
Croswell
Madgen
Knight
Williamson

My team for this week:
C: Tim Behrendorff (you better score more in one game than Janev in two!)
F: James Maye
F: Stephen Weigh
G: Gary Ervin (Captain)
G: Rhys Carter
Bench: Todd Blanchfield
Bench: Aaron Grabau
Bench: Michael Cedar
DNP: Larry Davidson
DNP: Corey Webster

Before I put my team in I am going to release Blagoj Janev and sign Tim Behrendorff.

Statman, Lockie & DB5
Don't forget to post your lines ups for this week before tip off tomorrow night.
Anyone that doesnt will have their team in the order they selected in the draft with their first pick being their captain.

Who Me?
I never said it was serious....did I?
as if Id try and dupe you out of picking him up on waiver so he became available to me....
Skip - after a bit more consideration of possible trades Ill sit on my team for this week and see what happens :)

HAHAHA - That's Awesome. He is still only 50/50 to play this week though, due to an ankle injury.

The waiver wire order now looks like this
Statman
Lockie
DB5
skip
Beantown
TR
Bizzy
Xztatik

Lockie - All confirmed, Davison out/Maye in.
X - All confirmed, Scoines out/ Wortho in.
I will release Cameron Tovey and sign Ronald Dorsey.
Davison is no longer able to be selected.
Scoines and Tovey will be added to the free agent list from Monday.

....especially with Wortho's ankle injury.
He hasn't been seen at training this week.

You need to make the GF first! Why not look to secure a Breaker part way through the season?
Maybe you should hold onto your Waiver to secure Marks in a few weeks?
Tt's not too late to withdraw your bid.

I am putting Cameron Tovey and Brad Robbins out there for a trade. I am however looking for a decent guard. Dont care about the forward.

X - I am going to have to decline. I just can't see how your offer would make my team stronger.
Maybe ask me again in a couple of weeks after I have seen how Blalock goes.

X - Your trade offer is tempting but as with Carter, I am thinking I want to keep Ervin for a little while to see what he can do. I wasn't impressed with Blalock's preseason form either.
Nevill for Davidson is a trade I am willing to consider as I was going to pick Nevill up in the draft. However, I am thinking you are wanting to do two trades. Am I right?
I am willing to give up any of my forwards or Cedar & Webster in my guards.

Skip - The players you have offered are both Perth players and as I already have Weigh, that would give me 3 Perth players. This would mean when Perth do not have a game, I may as well forfeit that week.
Also with Carters preseason performance, I think I will hang on to him for a little longer, unless you want to give up Penney.

oh and the draw this week is..
Bizzy v DB5
TR v Lockie
Beantown v Statman
skip v Xztatik

Lockie - For this week, it will still be until Wednesday 9am.
Any thought on my trade offer?

OMG has Penney been cut by the Spurs? Savvy move if so Skip.
X - feeling SO bad for you right now about Wortho!
;-P

I will probably change this between now and Friday, but here is my team for now.
Starting Five
C: Luke Schenscher
F: Cameron Tragardh
F: Glen Saville
G: Damien Ryan (Captain)
G: Eric Devendorf
Bench
C: Daniel Johnson
F: Brad Hill
G: Brad Robbins
DNP/CD
G: Kirk Penney (So pleased to hear you are heading home)
F: Cameron Tovey

Attention Everyone.
Unless there are any major objections, I am going to implement a slight rule change.
Basically, all free agents each week will be restricted on Mondays and then become unrestricted from Tuesday 9am.
That way, if an unknown rookie has a standout game in the previous round it gives everyone an opportunity to try and recruit them. This also then applys to any new players that join the league.
Feel free to comment if you like/dislike/dont care about this change.

Beantown Badgers Round 1
C: Muggo Knight (capt)
F: Rusty Hinder
F: Lucky Loughton
G: Side-Winder
G: Shiny Brasswell
Bench
C: Shorty Crosswhite
F: Badboy Boucher
G: Front Bar Cooper
Spudnicks
F: Sky Walker
G: Gran'pa Campbell

How many points is Tovey? Could be a useful pickup for the Sixers if he gets cut early in the season.
Oh and X, just saw this statement from the Beantown Badgers:
"The Badgers organisation have strongly denied suggestions that they might be looking to trade star import Craig Winder or gun forward Alex Loughton before a ball has even been bounced in anger".

He signed for 2 years with them after 'coming out of retirement' for them.

I dont think he will be heading anywhere.
The offer is still there.

Lockie - I offer the same duo to yourself.
Tovey (18.86 a game last season)
Robbins (15.11)
for
Blanchfield (1.05 a game last season)
Carter (DNP last season)

oh all good. i just realised after i posted i was thinking of the iinet dreamteam that they setup woops!

Sorry SRT070
The league was set up a while ago with the 8 teams and a draft run for selecting our players.
I will keep you in mind for next season.

Sorry to say this but this is my first time every playing a fantasy league of anything. my kind of games generally involve guns and some good graphics, so please excuse my ignorance, any handy tips on how we play this properly would be handy otherwise ill keep going as im going. anyway team Beers lineup:
C - Schench
F - Petrie
F - Redhage
G - Winder
G - Devries
F - Garlepp
C - Dowdell
G - Goulding
F - Blanchfield
G - Carter
sort of winging this too by the way. but will see how it goes.

***** MEDIA RELEASE - CHELSEA DAGGERS *****
In response to the slur upon 2 of our players names from the Canberra Based 'Team Choke', we wanted to point out their numbers from the previous season.
Cameron Tovey averaged 18.86 FNBL points a game.
Brad Robbins averaged 15.11 FNBL points a game.
When this is compared to Canberra (why would anyone want to play there??) duo that was sounded out as a trade, that numbers say it all.
Peter Crawford averaged 18.07 FNBL points a game.
Daniel Jackson averaged 0.79 FNBL points a game.
Yes, that is 0.79. So from his 28 appearances on court, he totaled a whopping 22 FNBL points for the entire season.
**** END OF STATEMENT ****

Statman - Could I possibly interest you in Cameron Tovey & Brad Robbins for Peter Crawford & Daniel Jackson?

*Repeating my bid for Wortho to be safe"
Interesting...havnt read the latest injury news then?
;)

Anyone want to play trades before the first round?
X - Im intersted in Mr Abercombie if you think we can work a deal?
Anyone else, noone in my list in untouchable (such a heartless bastard of an owner I am) so lets see if we can have some fun before Friday...
