Murray does some crazy arse stunts though. i never see those lamo mascots do anything good

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
How in the hell is Murray Magpie not the best mascot in the league? absolute rubbish

agree Xztatik, Penney moves so well without the ball in hand and can run his defender into 2-3 screens till he gets an open look. If it was that easy Big Marty everyone would put up numbers like Penney.

I wouldn't call screens and picks something that makes Penney "hard to guard". Everyone in the league can do that; you'd only call him tough based on his FG% from it.
If you're talking actual One on One guarding, CJ is still above Penney IMO. Bruton has all the tricks in the book.

Big Marty, I will also add to the CJ vs Penney argument (when they are both on the floor) that Penney would in most cases have the oppositions best defender on him where CJ wouldn't giving him a better opportunity to get to the rack (not always the case but more often than not I would think).

Fair call on CJ Big Marty, he's super quick still off the dribble and apparently with his mouth also lol but these days Kirk Penney is not just settling for the 3 and is taking it inside and finishing (as illustrated Vs the Sixers) so I would go with Penney, in his hay day CJ Bruton without a doubt.
Ira Clark is very capable of being the best dunker in the league but 1 sick dunk in a season doesn't cut it for me, I'll go with the guy that nails an Alley Oop every game and climbs up for a big 2hander every game (he's the most consistent).

Mystro, I'd argue that CJ Bruton is harder to guard on the perimeter than Kirk Penney is.
Kirk is certainly the best pure shooter in the league, but Bruton tends to dupe most defenders on him to get easy layups, 10ft jumpers and tends to draw more fouls off the jump fake than Penney.
Have seen Bruton play v Adelaide many times and he easily beats guys like Hill, Ng, Balls etc. off the dribble and tends to make his own shots alot better.
Best Dunker comes down to opportunity, but not necessarily to most dunks in a game. Ambercrombie gets height and alot of chances to dunk, but he doesn't put much flavor on the dunks.
Think Ira Clark's Round 1 dunk has been the best this season, based on that I'd give him the "Best Dunker" category. Think a dunk contest would be needed to really award anyone that title.

Yeah holmes is averaging more per game which I was surpised by just due to the fact Vukona has had a couple of games lately where he has had 8-10 but Holmes has prob put up similar numbers over those rounds. I would think Vukona would have more offensive rebounds than Holmes but could be wrong.

Vukona plays alongside WIlkinson, a very good rebounder, who does Holmes play against that's tough on the boards? NZ is on top of the ladder, Adelaide is towards the bottom. Besides anybody who actually has watched Vukona play can clearly see he is a better rebounder then Holmes.

Ira Clark was a late arrival to the Blaze so prob missed out on a few votes there but i do agree that the guy is a beast. He is huge tho compared to Abercrombie, it's that small guy Vs big guy in the dunk comp sort of argument but they are both athletic as hell. Abercrombie gets up and down the floor with ease and can jump out of the building.
Jacob Holmes can rebound for sure, he stands out because no one else in Adelaide can, or box out lol. Khazzouh is currently leading the league in rebounds, Holmes is rated 4th and Vukona is further down the list. So fair argument DJ Rod but the players must see it differently .
Yeah Abercrombie does the same safe 2 handed throwdown every single game off a Braswell pass 2 feet above the rim (and has previously climbed over Dorsey to do it). I'll pass your disappointment on to him and see if he can liven it up with a Windmill ect. Ira Clark doesn't always finish his dunk plays, if he did I would completely agree.
I'm a Breakers fan so there is a fair amount of bias in my posts but I do also support the Sixers and the Blaze.

Which individual accolades that the Breakers players received is there to argue about?
Best Shooter: Kirk Penney (any one care to argue)
Best Passer: Kevin Braswell (plenty of assists and Alley Oop passes each week)
Best Rebounder: Mika Vukona (had ten last week against the Sixers and i'm pretty sure over half of them were offensive)
Best Athlete: Tom Abercrombie (anyone care to argue)
Best Dunker: Tom Abercrombie (anyone care to argue)
Toughest Player to Guard on the Perimeter: Kirk Penney (anyone care to argue)
Biggest Trash Talker: CJ Bruton (Homicide may have been unlucky here lol)
Which Current NBL Player Would You Pay To See: Kirk Penney (anyone care to argue)
Mad props to D-Martin on his accolades, thoroughly deserved. The guys stocks must be rapidly rising on the back of a solid season and he would improve any team he played for.

I agree that 36ers fans are most likely the most knowledgeable, but considering how other teams stack up as a whole, means zilch. There aren't very many knowledgeable fans in Australia at all.

So they think the 6ers have the most knowledgeable fans. They obviously don't read this forum.

interesting reading. D-Martin goes to show you can play tough D without being an asshole

Wow, 19 of the player related awards went to Breakers. That is a fairly large endorsement by the rest of the competition that the Breakers are the ones to beat.

Which player is the best sportsman (fairest) in the league?
Damian Martin (Perth Wildcats) 15%
Russell Hinder (Townsville Crocodiles) 9%
Mat Campbell (Wollongong Hawks) 6%
I think there is enough proof here to certainly state the following.
Number of players who decided to take the piss instead of voting seriously 9%

Shame about some of the Stadium votes there.
About 10 years ago, Adelaide would have topped most of them. Good going for Perth though. :)

I thought this was quite interesting
Which current NBL player would you pay to see?
Kirk Penney (New Zealand Breakers) 29%
Thomas Abercrombie (New Zealand Breakers) 21%
CJ Bruton (New Zealand Breakers) 12%
