Kiwi 17yo 7ft Steven Adams to play NZNBL
He is playing NZNBL to get more experience at a higher more competitive level before he plays in the States. Not saying the NZNBL is a good league or anything but it does attract guys like Ballinger who Steven will get a chance to go at in preparation for the athletic players he will have to guard and compete against in America. He's still at high school.

No Enes Kanter got paid.
I believe that the NCAA allows these players playing in pro-leagues to be taken care of by the club for "every-day" costs such as food, transport, etc.
However In Kanter's case, he got that much money from the club (in the hundreds of thousands) that there was no way that that could be intepreted as "everyday living costs".
This was from ESPN:
"The NCAA student-athlete reinstatement staff decided the 6-foot-11 Kanter received benefits above his actual and necessary expenses while playing for a club basketball team in Turkey. The NCAA defines actual and necessary expenses as those directly necessary for practice and competition on a team."
Kentucky tried to appeal the decision but to no avail.

He has already signed a letter of intent with Pittsburgh University I believe and his mentor in NZ is Saints legend Kenny McFadden who will have done all the homework regarding eligibility for NCAA.

He is playing as the Saints Development Player and not getting paid to satisfy NCAA eligibility criteria.

Can someone please advise the correct procedure for junior transfers. I believe this can be done by email. Who do you contact at Basketball SA
