Yes because Jordan Barry was great at the AST. played 2mins against Israel and got a tech..

At the end of day at least euro teams can qualify through An actual multi team tournament with 6 spots available.
Poor NZ has to beat Aus twice who are usually top 4 in the world at the under 19 level...

Europe is always the hardest region to qualify for a World Championship or Olympic event given the depth of competition.

Anon, your right about that--Europe is tough to get out of. I believe France, Germany, Italy were without their top players due to pro commitments i.e. No Evan Fournier, Andrea Traini, Alessandro Gentile and Phillip Neumann. All of those players bar Traini are NBA prospects.
Watered down event IMHO.

Well here is the finishing places for the most recent 2010 U18 European championships:
1. Lithuania
2. Russia
3. Latvia
4. Serbia
5. Croatia
6. Poland
7. France
8. Greece
Agree that Germany were good at the AST but there was no Germany or Italy inside thje top 8, whilst France and Greeece finished behind the other Euro teams which was part of their qualifying.

Still not a fan of the FIBA structure (certain number from each region have to qualify). There were better teams at the AST. i know NZ could beat teams like Tunisia, Taiwan and South Korea and Egypt. Furthermore, no Greece, France, Italy, and Germany ( who came 2nd at AST)

After watching the Dragons game last night and considering matchups this one is going to be close one would suggest. The only position i feel we dont really match up well in is the centre, with Todd Fuller's size just looking too big. but in each of the other positions we match up well. the only other area of concern may be production off the bench with them being able to bring in Ingles, but last night they only used 7. i can see this game going into overtime with it being won at the buzzer, what are others predictions?
