Basketball Movies

"Juwanna Mann" is a basketball movie that I found around 5 years ago and it is hilarious.

I just edited the list with a whole list of inclusions from the website link provided by ashman.

I think we have a very comprehensive list of basketball movies & documentaries.

Anyone come close to owning the collection?

Sorry to be picky but I think it was actually BASEketball.

Also - I remember as a young hoops junkie watching a movie about a guy who made it onto the Lakers roster (Mitch Kupchak played the obligatory genuine basketball talent). I can't think of the name (I think the heroes name was Rory) and none of the names on the list jog my memory.

We're talking early eighties cinema release (though I susepct very short-lived and not very wide).

Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Hmmm, The Air Up There - great childhood memories of Kevin Bacon's unstoppable "Shake'n'Bake".

Basketball IMO should be a recurring theme if not the central component of the movie to make it on this list.

Scenes in movies where the characters shoot hoops such as the Lethal Weapon example and which is common to many TV shows will not get in on this list. That for mine is a whole different list altogether.

"The Mini's" will be added to the list.

I'll go through and add a lot of movies not on this list from that link when I get a chance.

Isn't there a scene in one of the Lethal Weapon movies where they are shooting hoops in the gym? There would be quite a lot of movies where that sort of thing happens.

How far removed from the actual story line did you want the basketball content to be?

I have added "More than a Game" and "Hooked" to the list.

Whilst a like a lot of basketball movies, my personal favourites include White Man Can't Jump, Coach Carter, Hoosiers and He Got Game.

I've never personally seen Church Ball or Just Wright. Probably worth doing a google search,

I added One Special Victory to the list.

Kazaam is not making the list. Just like Flying High with Kareem does not make the list, as there is no reference to basketball.

LeBron's movie is not yet released is it?

Basketball Diaries (1995) is already on my list...a very good but dark movie.

Air bud (1997) is a good call. Will edit and add to the list.

How the hell did I leave that off the list - it's one I've seen and own! I edited the list to include it.

Finding Forrester is about a kid at school and focusses on his education, but combining it by playing hoops if I'm not mistaken? However very much a marginal basketball movie much in the mould of Forget Paris I would say.
