FIBA to Introduce Competition Changes: World Cup
Mainini: Our new system strengthens our national federations"I think it’s now time for us all to come together, join forces between clubs, national federations and FIBA, to reinstate the appropriate balance between club and national team competitions. We believe our proposal is one that works for all stakeholders of the game."

I really thought I was reading about soccer there for a minute......?
Yes, I agree, if we are talking about basketball let's refer to it as the World Champs, not the Cup like soccer, just seems to fit the sport better I think!
Otherwise, it's always nice to read some positive news about the sport of hoops, now let us see it happen!

I guess FIBA are trying to mirror the prestige of the FIFA World Cup...
Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

I like it! Will be good to see meaningful international games for the Boomers more often. Where will we compete though? Hopefully as part of the Asian group along with NZ?

Great news!
A really positive step forward.
Love the idea of increasing the amount of International games, as Australia and NZ don't play anywhere near enough.
Just wondering where the additional money would come from though?
Its all well and good, the idea of playing more games/series, but in reality Basketball NZ as well as the other minor Basketball nations don't have anywhere near enough to fund overseas travel.

Scenario:
Scoreboard and shot clock totally failed at Pt Adelaide last night.
Players, coaches, and all officials decide to press ahead on court 1 after a 20 minute delay.
Good crowd, a few seats still available for the womens game.
Stupid scenario:
At end of game 40'ish year old woman complaining to management demanding her money back because the scoreboard didnt work, and she couldnt sit down.
Makes a song and dance wearing a Flames jacket. Just after the Flames lost. Sour grapes maybe?
Would she have wanted her money back if the Flames won?
And if it was an issue, why stay for the whole game and then ask for your money back?
Lovey, put it down to experience, you got to watch a brilliant game, and you supported grass roots basketball.
I am sure that you will find the money to pay for your cappucino on the Parade during the week without too many problems.
Well done to everyone involved with the games last night dealing with some unexpected challenges.
