Yeah, it's a good move to have that Veteran behind Lin. He will be especially good in the clutch if required as Billups was.
IMO, New York still have issues with Amare and Melo in the lineup. I don't think the two of them can be on the floor at the same time and be productive.
I would suggest (as others have on NBA.com) moving Amare to the bench and having him come on with Kidd to maintain offensive flow. Unfortunately he's getting paid too much to be considered for that; and frankly I think his ego wouldn't let him either.
