U18 Girls Coach Quits
To all of the stirrers on this thread trying to discredit West, can one of you please explain why Corey is not at the club of "HIS" choice- North ABA?.
Please don't come on accusing West for being the "bad guys" when he began the ABA Season as North assistant coach.
What happened? Are North and West the onl 2 parties that were wrong?
Let's be fair and stop sniping at people trying to do the best things for the clubs they love and devote hours of time and stress for stuff all payment or glory!

He is not the Messiah, but tells people that he is and like a politician, if you tell people the same thing enough times (how good you are), some will actually believe you and forget all of the previous 'indiscretions'.
Great coach for kids and very popular, but carries some "baggage" which becomes tiresome
Would be great to see Corey back at West, but please don't expect everybody to wear kneepads to come crawling!

There appears to be a history. Pardon my ignorance, but who is the Girls CD and is that view shared by many?
Unless they have done something stupid, maybe just leave the personal attacks out.

Phadreus,
You can actually tell a lot about a team based on their results. If a team relies on one player to be effective, then that team has a real problem. They will be found wanting by clever coaches who will design a game plan to neutralise the benefit of that player.
Each division has an average score and knowing this for the division, there should be a game score. For example, in U18 girls, the sum of both scores is around 97 ppg in total. In U12 girls, the game score is much less.
Each team has the opportunity to have the same number of possessions per game. The same number of possessions means the same scoring opportunities. Watch a game and count the possessions per quarter, they are about the same per team.
Each possession ends in many ways: Goal made; missed shot/defensive rebound/out of bounds; turnover. A foul on, or offensive rebound is just a "pause" in that possession. Instead of lasting 20 secs, the position lasted for 40 secs.
The way a team forces more possessions (for them) per game is to force turnovers, particularly in the backcourt in order that the shot clock is not run down too much. The way a team holds possession is through offensive rebounds. A team that has a low game score can also sometimes have a high foul count as this slows the game game and clogs up scoring opportunities, particularly in a non-fully timed game. A high game score can often mean defensive problems.
For example, a team may have a higher than average game score, but their defensive score is on average, then this means that they are making the most of their possession and scoring well. Either through good shot selection, or good shooting %.

It is always disappointing to see coaches withdraw from coaching as the game needs these volunteers. The average score in U18 girls Div 1 is 48.5 (game score 97.0) and West average score is 50.5 to 49.3. Their yield of 27% win rate is lower than it should be, but they have lost 4 games by less than 5 points (2 scoring shots). As everyone knows, that's the difference between an "ordinary" and a great season.
Looking at the Div 1 girls comp as a complete competition, it is a pretty even competition and every team has its strengths and weaknesses. Sturt are the obvious standouts at the top and their defence of 38.8 ppg is to be expected (no doubt plenty of press defence going on there) Their offensive score is not outstanding, but their average total game score is low indicating that they are scoring on their possessions, but preventing others from scoring. Their average score is 53.7 to 38.8 (92.5 game score).
Centrals are at the foot of that table with an average score of 34.5 to 62.0 with a game score of 96.5 suggesting turnovers being their problem (game score OK, but not enough offensive opportunities), whereas North have the highest game score of 105.4 ppg (average 52.3 to 53.1) indicating a fairly freeflowing game with offensive being the priority (plenty of transition game?). Norwood have the lowest game score of 86.4 (38.9 to 47.6) A good defensive score, but low offensive score indicating that they probably need to work on shot selection or shooting technique to make the most of their possession (ball possession, not demonic possession).
With the average score of most teams pretty close, it just shows how tight the competition is and realistically with most of those girls playing at their clubs since U12, most girls are playing their 16th, or possibly their 20th season of basketball so a high level of basketball is to be expected.
If the coach has quit, we don't currently know the real reason, but if they have quit due to un-necessary grief from parents, it's disappointing.

oooooh!! ooooh!! ooooh!!!
i know
Sacked coach replaces Quit coach

It is all too obvious isn't it. They realise they need to make room for someone more talented, like "west curious" perhaps?

west curious --- out to stir the pot are we?? one coach quitting means an entire club is on the slide?
surely a coaches decision to quit this late in the season, (well you would hope) would be based on carefully considered reasons and not just a reaction to a couple of bad games, personal reasons? work commitments? perhaps said coach has realised an inability to coach present team or cope with pressure of team not performing as expected? who knows?
are you trying to insinuate you know more, if so, post away and start the crap ball rolling that district basketball seems to thrive on!!
