36ers confirm interest in import CJ Massingale
I actually like the idea of Gibson starting at the 1 and Creek at the 2.
A depth chart looking like this would be good:
C/ Schencher(30)/Johnson(10)/back up big(0)
PF/ Johnson(20)/ Petrie(20)
SF/ Weigh (25)/ Creek(10)/Massingale(5)
SG/ Creek(10)/Gibson(10)/Massingale(10)/Cadee(10)
PG/ Gibson (20)/Cadee(10)/Crosswell(10)
We definitely have the depth to see minutes vary every night according to performance. Eg Creek playing 30 and Weigh just 20 because Creek is unguardable/shutting down offensive player or Johnson is far to quick for opposition centre so needs more time at the 5 etc

I think if Pero gets the gig it will be with limited playing time, basically there to cover injuries. With the line up already i doubt he'll play much at all. Massingale seems with our current line-up fit in quite well as a sixth man back -up shooting gd or even slowly weened into the nbl system coming of the bench with no expectations and he will blossum.
I believe this line up is potent, we can mix n match, has good depth at all positions.
Johnson is the next chris anstey and with schenscher next to him, exciting times for the 36ers.
Potential line-up
Schenscher, johnson, pero
Johnson, Petrie, Weigh
Weigh, Creek,
Creek, Massingale , Crosswell
Gibson, Cadee, Crosswell
Maybe even Creek will play a back up sf role with all the decent guards we have.

Anonymous,
I'm sure if I spoke to the guy he'd tell me about how well he is running the squad, how great a leader he is and how much good he's doing. Speak to the players and I'm not so sure you'd get the same answer. Before you tell me I have no clue wait to see how many players stick around Pero's program.

Its not only about statistics in current SEABL/ABL leagues although Tiger Watcher is correct in sayingg SEABL is by far more competitive than ABL. As a locker room presence I think Vanderjagt brings more as a far as attitude and experience goes. Lets face it, this last position isn't going to be required to play heaps of minutes so a personality fit is just as important in my opinion.

Interesting point with CJ being a 10. If he was naturalized next week (hypothetically), having only played SEABL for the last 7 years, would his rating be like a 3 or 4??

Will cop a heap of criticism over this but I fail to see why the Sixers would chase Pero? I think he's incredibly overrated at ABL level, has an absolutely disgraceful attitude, is not a good scorer nor 1 on 1 defender. Is also not the most intelligent player on the floor either. He's absolutely killed North's program and watching him play on the weekend I was not anymore impressed. For someone who should have been the go to guy on offense he was almost a non-factor really. Would so much rather a Vanderjagt or even a local import Brian Moultrie.

If we sign him, whether he performs well or not, there will be people saying 'I told you so'

Alot of NZNBL imports were also imports in the NBL:
Jason Crowe, Nick Horvath (now naturalised), Justin Bailey, Larry Abney, Eric Devendorf, Galen Young, Darryl Hudson, Rashard Tucker, Kevin Braswell.
NBL teams need to start looking into the NZNBL for cheap, good quality imports. I truly believe its best for teams to load its roster with very good local players (Like the 36ers have done) and then go out and get relatively cheap imports who can still contribute.
I think ANBL teams should have really gone hard and done more homework on getting Jerry Smith.
Dude went on to play for the New Jersey Nets.
