The 2012/13 Hoops League Two FBL Draft
My whole team comes in with $125,700 to spare... I am definitely a budget team!!

Quietly confident with my team IF the big man Knight stands up. Was my #1 pick last year so to get him as my 3rd this year was pleasing. All teams IMO look pretty even. No clear standout unlike last year.
Barring Injury my Round 1 team will be
Knight
Edwards
Hill
Crawford
Jackson (c)
Blanchfield
Greer
Trueman
DNP
L.Martin
C.Cedar

Too much work involved as it is already without complicating it with the points cap.
I did consider getting us all to set our teams up on a dream team site to save some time. But then you could have issues with players not fitting under their cap and they dont always have every player there to select.

I like the sound of a league that complies with the points cap. It adds another element to the draft and preparation.

Here is each team with their points. (External)
Luckily we don't have a points cap, as 4 of you are over!
Ox - 75
Hendo8888 - 74
BJF - 73
Wookiee - 71
Pure Silk - 66
Bizzy - 63
DB5 - 62
clarky - 58

Should be ok still, with a lineup of:
C- Russ Hinder
PF- Jesse Wagstaff
SF- Shawn Redhage (C)
SG- Aaron Bruce
PG- Jamar Wilson (vc)
Ben- ?????? Hoping for a stud Guard import
Ben- Liam Rush
Ben- Daryl Corletto
Cover- Aaron Grabau, Lucas Walker
As Hendo said, TSV will determine my strength, but i have versatility in captain choice, depending on games per round, and opposition matchups.

I'm pretty happy with my final roster, especially considering the limited preparation I did for the draft.
D. Martin
C. Tragardh
A. Loughton
M. Creek
J. Cadee
C. Steindl
K. Braswell*
C. Webster
A. MacMillian
T. Demos
I think I might lack a dominant scorer, but I think I have enough guys who will rack up stats across multiple categories. I'm hoping they will all be efficient scorers, but I have my doubts.

Yeah I chose to pick at #4, I must have missed the bit in the Lottery email that said the Waiver order was based on lottery position.
It doesn't really bother me overall, just wanted a bit of clarification...
In other news, with their final pick in the 2012/13 FNBL Draft the Chuck Taylor All*Stars select....
Tyson Demos of the Wollongong Hawks!

I thought whoever had the #1 Draft Spot ended up with the #8 Waiver pick....
EDIT: the email I have with the rules in it (from 12/9/2012) says:
6.1 This is used to sign restricted free agents throughout the season. The order of this to begin with is the reverse of the initial Draft order.

CORRECTION.
The incorrect Waiver order is listed at the top of this thread.
As per the email sent out on August 13. The waiver order is the reverse of the lottery draw.
CORRECT WAIVER ORDER.
1 - Wookiee
2 - Ox
3 - Bizzy
4 - BJF
5 - Hendo8888
6 - Pure Silk
7 - DB5
8 - Clarky

The only interest I had in Forte was his G/F eligibility, but I wasn't too worried when he got picked up.
In other news, the Chuck Taylor All*Stars would like to welcome their late draft smokie.......
Auryn MacMillian

I was going to take Robbins.... give me a few minutes to think this next pick over...

As unfortunate as it is, I agree with Skip's decision. Every pick of an import is a gamble and the timing of the sackings (before the draft is over) has caused an issue.
If these two had been sacked before the draft started then there would be 2 less to choose from, or if they were sacked after then replacements would need to be found on the Waiver Wire. It happens, and as Pure Silk said, at the end of the day we are doing this for a bit of fun.
Slightly more on topic.... Who is on the clock for the next pick?

At the end of the day , we are doing this as a hobby. For a bit of fun. Rules are rules and you cant break them for anyone. Thats just the way it goes. Suck it up and move on. Good onya Skip for sticking to your guns and look forward to a good competition this season. Good luck all.

Sorry. The decision stands. If this had happened tomorrow when the draft was over there wouldn't even be a discussion.
Could have been worse... Draftee could have died

injury is different to sacking. These guys are not eligable to play, or be listed any longer.
Like i said, your in a position where you can limit the effect it has. As it stands, our, 8th pick becomes our 9th, our 9th becomes 10th, and 10th will be last player avail in the draft, or a dev player. So it affects 3 picks, not just one. And to replace him, we then lose our spot on the Waiver.
Too many flaws to your reassurance on a replacement. They are talking replacing one with an aussie. What if its a luke nevill? Neither Hendo or I see the rights to him.

That's the bitch of the draft Im afraid.
If I make an exception in this case, what happens if later today it's announced that someones first round pick is cut/injured.
Think yourself luck that it's your 8th pick in the draft.
I cant speak for Wookiee, but I don't think he is going to cut Lisch or Henry, which means you are in the box seat for any new imports to the league.

But if we don't win rfa bidding, we are expected to PLAY our 8th picks, which we don't get until everyone else makes their 10th picks.
You have the choice to make this a small disadvantage or a large one. Why choose the latter?

The bright side is that it's an Import, who will be replaced with another import. What if the news had been that Redhage had gone down with a season ending injury.
And you are 2nd on the Waiver, so hopefully you shouldnt have issues replacing him.

That's harsh. I just lost pick 58 all together, am back to 1 dodgy ctr, and can't replace him with the leftover junk until the end, which will have to be a development player???

I'm afraid not. You will need to go through Free Agency once the draft is completed. Same goes for ox with Withers.

very surprised he dropped to you.
Great work on the SMS updates skip. Its made the draft fly along.

Not all doom and gloom lads, still 2 fwd/ctrs out there.
Interesting to see who nabs the last 2 imports. I felt that leaving picking one up too late may have left me without a 2nd one, and the scoring potential is hopefully a bit higher than the remaining players.
