So many contenders takes away how special it is to get the award. Always a bunch of players who are in contention...

I think if you play for a team that doesn't win, you don't get a mention unless you drop 40-50 points in a tight game.
If you are the second best player on your team, not in contention.
You must play for the winning team and be the best player on that team to get a "mention".
