Bogut Out Indefinitely
His entire 120kg weight came down on that single ankle after attempting a block (the other leg was still in the air). Unfortunately someone else's foot was beneath his. And so it broke.
He had microfracture surgery. The normal recovery time for that type of injury would've taken him through until January 2013. He came back at the end of October.
Yes it was too soon. Yes he needs more time. But he'll be back.

Good call, Mick. Anatomically speaking: the elbows and ankles are pretty much co-dependent structures.
True story.

I think he needs to continue to do whatever it takes to get himself back on the court for at least a few games this season. Golden State is going to be a great fit for him and if he can play a few games it'll help the fans warm to him a little more and the coaching staffs confidence in him will grow. Another off-season focused entirely on his own individual strength and conditioning workouts will a specific schedule that includes rehab days in between sets the big man up for next year. I don't think his career is done just yet, but the way he goes in the next year or two will certainly decide that.

Yeah, he is pretty much done in the NBA. The Warriors look stupid for trading Ellis for him now, they could have got a solid big man for less money who actually can play a full season.
He should IMO invest the money he has made in the NBA and move to Australia, take a year off to get his body right and then play in the NBL. This would be much less taxing on his body and he is still young enough to play many years in the NBL and become an NBL legend.
This would also allow him to extend his basketball career and he may even get to play for Australia in the Rio games.
