NBL in Tasmania?
Surely NBL team aspirations and new Facilities go hand in hand. The DEC is not an option. The cost to hire this was approx $16,000 per night way back in 1996 so god knows what the costs are now.

$15,000,000 of State funds would just about set up a 4 Court with show court facility in Southern Tasmania to replace the outdated Moonah and Clarence facilities.
This would cater for about 7000 users on a weekly basis and provide opportunities for National Events which have had to be passed up because of a lack of suitable Indoor Facilities
Surely 7000 plus more for Intra & Interstate events actually participating on a weekly basis to help reduce health problems would be a better community spend than a whole lot of seats to sit beer swilling pie eating football supporters on about 4 occassions a year.
Roll on the elections and we might just get someone interested in actually helping Basketball to achieve the objectives of NBL and Young people being active in a Multipurpose facility

Plus two of the three regions in the state will go up in arms that is in the wrong place and not support it at all.

Tassy Govt can't be too broke. It seemed easy enough to find $33,000,000 for Stadium redevelopments at Blundstone to cater for AFL ( Nth Melb ) and Cricket.
Maybe the Tassy people looking at Facility developments need to go with the Libs

NBL will never happen in Tasmania! There's way to many idiots on the board of Basketball Tasmania! Also, as shown in the J Schueller thread there's a lot of people who probably can't even play the sport that will do whatever they can to shut down anything that they don't agree with!
Basketball in Tasmania is gone, time to cut it off from the rest of Australia before it drags us all down with it!

They've had a bid for about 3-4 years now but I don't think BA was interested. I haven't heard anything about this new bid however.

definately would be a lot of players interested in playing! Could probably even get Gibbo and Mat Knight back to play for us! Would be awesome for bball in Tasmania!

With one game to go and having already established that Cayla will take out the Halls, who is most likely to win the Wollacott medal? It seems to be alot more even in the mens. I think it will be Burdon and Hoban a close second.
