Pau Gasol for Andrew Bynum deal maybe on sunday
GWB - it's not about talent, or even about either team improving their record. Purely financial based trade.
If LA get him, they shed Pau's contract, and with the clause in Bynum's contract if they shed him soon enough they don't have to pay Bynum a dime.
However LA want a player as well (or prob a draft pick). Whereas the Cavs don't want to give someone away for a player (Gasol) who is a FA after the season and probably won't re-sign with them.
At this point LA will need to concede if this particular trade will get done.
LA looking to get something more than just financial savings by shedding Gasol's contract. Cavs offered a 2nd round pick but LA apparently want a first rounder or a player as well.
Cavs know that LA are basically just looking to shed salary (Bynum much cheaper than Gasol) and obviously don't want to give up any more than necessary for what most expect will be a half season rental.
