NZ NBL 2014 Off-Season Rate Card (South Island)
Brett Brown started coached in the NZBL
look at him now?
Maybe the ANBL needs to be shortened to a 4month format aswell?

Generally, we don't get the same level of import talent in the NZNBL as the NBL. With that being said, there have been quite a few imports who have played in both leagues (Crowe, Wethers, Braswell, Rickert, Tucker, Andrew Warren, Maxey, Pace, Conklin etc.)
I think the NZNBL punches way above its weight in terms of attracting quality imports.
One advantage may be the length of the season.
Season starts April and finishes in June.
3 month season, and teams often allow imports to come in only a month or even a few weeks before the season.
So they can come here and the pay is very good when you average it out to 4 months work.
ANBL season goes from October to April (7 months), throw in the fact that imports may have to come out 2 or so months before the season, and it effectively means they are working for 9 months. Which could prevent them getting other deals during the year.

They were good enough to get a run with some NBA teams. Good to see them coming to the NZ NBL....which is a heck of a lot smaller (in every way) than its Australian counterpart...

imo find that ex nba players that do bring there talents to australasia cant shoot for bricks. slasher type guys.score from dunks & have poor attitudes

how the fudge can a nz team secure nba level talent and the "ANBL" can barely get interest from scrubs??
it aint money?? lifestyle??
they got them coaching aswell
