It's sort of likening it to a company being ripe for a takeover... One side much more in need of the other and (based on previous decision making) probably more than happy to bend over a little bit more for the more famous suitor...
Not saying that it would be a disaster, but having people or entities in charge of something on the other side of the world when they've got probably much different goals and no real reason to put themselves out for the sake of another country, is a bit scary...
Not quite sure about the Asian leagues, but surely there wouldn't be any other leagues in Europe that would be willing to give up so much control?
