Chicago Bulls sign Cameron Bairstow

Wookiee, by way of example:

1. If the Bulls elect to waive Bairstow before the 14/15 season begins (for whatever reason) they will owe 100% of his 14/15 salary as it's fully guaranteed, 50% of his 15/16 salary and 50% of his 16/17 salary.

2. If Bairstow is waived after the 15/16 season then he will only be owed 50% of his 16/17 salary. He will have already earned 100% of his salaries for the 14/15 and 15/16 seasons.

If Bairstow were to be waived mid-season, how much he's owed might depend on whether this occurs before a certain date.

If he gets the opportunity and stays healthy I think they will renegotiate before the second year is up, great news for another hard working Aussie...

How can something be 50% guaranteed? I really don't get the contract side of the NBA... does that mean if they don't take the option up on Cam, he still gets half the cash even if not on the team?

Actually, it is a 3-yr deal according to Geoff Grammer of Albuquerque Journal:

Chicago Bulls sign former Lobo Cameron Bairstow

Specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Journal has confirmed the contract is for three years with the first year being fully guaranteed and year two of the contract being 50 percent guaranteed. The NBA’s rookie minimum salary for the 2014-15 season is $507,000.

Rumours were true! Great work Bear!

"Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed."

While initial rumours centered around a 3-yr deal, it is more likely a 2-yr deal.

So it's an insanely slow day at work. Adelaide 36ers vs. Gold Coast Blaze Distinctive Homes Dome Wednesday, 20 Jan 09 Recent Form: Blazes series against the Tigers gets swept (116107) at the Gold Coast Convention Center. Sixers drop both legs of the Sunshine Swing, losing to Cairns (79-70) and then Townsville (128-105). Factors: Ben Melmeth is out for the season after a big effort against Chris Anstey and the Melbourne Tigers. Rod Grizzard has a couple games under his belt with the Sixers and more time learning their system. Luke Schenscher has had a few more days to recover from the flu. Preview: Despite dropping two games up north in what the Sixers would have pencilled in as a split at worst, theyll go into Wednesday nights clash with cellar dwellers Gold Coast as the favourites. The Sixers have reinforced the Domes reputation as a formidable venue to visit, with successive home wins over the Hawks (101-96), the Tigers (102-94), the Crocs (100-79), the Blaze (107-104), the Hawks a second time (106-99) and the Taipans (107-83). The six game win streak stretches as far back as Round 10, when they narrowly lost to an in form Dragons (106-100). Despite their 3 game losing streak and 5 and 20 record, the Blaze showed they can be competitive against anyone on any given night with a solid outing against the third placed Melbourne Tigers (Whitehead 22, Bowen 17, Heal 17, Harvey 17) with Coach Joyce remarking The played their hearts out tonight. Back below 50% at 12 and 13, the Sixers have landed themselves in the middle of a dogfight to make the post season, just behind the Wildcats (13-12) and with the Spirit now breathing down their necks (11-13). With the Wilcats (Home), Dragons (Away), Breakers (Home) and the Gong (Away) still to come, the road to the post season has been made ever more difficult for Adelaide by the 0-2 Round 18 disappointment. Teams: Brett Maher versus Shane Heal is a match up thats sure to keep Adelaide fans vocal, with The Hammer as popular as ever amongst the Dome's faithful. Likewise, Blaze Captain James Harvey will have his hands full with an in form David Hill and a dogged Brad Davidson coming back into post-injury form. Aaron Bruce may well find his starting 5 spot under pressure after a less than impressive showing up north, a significant turnover count and the continually improving form of Brad Hill. The ever consistent Ranga Towers of Luke Schenscher and Adam Ballinger will, as always, play a big role in the Sixers form, with able support from Jacob Holmes. Likewise, the Blazes Luke Whitehead will look to back up his solid effort against the Tigers (22 points, 9 boards, four assists, two steals and two blocks). Justin Bowen will need to again step up in Melmeths absence. Adelaide coach Scott Ninnis may well look to experiment with not only his starting 5, but his on court combinations and player rotations, particularly as new import Rod Grizzard looks to find his niche. Sixers by 9 in a must win situation.
