Wildcats announce Memberships at 8106
A bit disappointed that I went and paid $89 for NBL.TV just before this deal.

DeAndre Daniels and Earnest Ross haha

Marcus Camby, it's because the Wildcats are awesome.. Check out their website and grab the deal while you can

Plenty of ways to judge how popular a team is, how many seats they fill is one of them, however the size of the stadium impacts results so a % of the stadium seats filled could be used.
TV audience by the ratings can't be used because not every game is televised, also some time slots are better suited for viewing than others perhaps.
Per head of capita, like #496308 has mentioned is valid once you tally up total numbers and in a city with more than one team you could divide the population in two, however do you include only the city or should you go with the whole state?
Statistics can be what you want to make of them, but keeping it simple and quantifying the results can give you a reasonable base from which to work with.
8,000+ members for a team in Perth is excellent and any team in the NBL with more than 6-7 thousand members should be happy with themselves IMhO.

As far a memberships are concerned it should be quite clear and easy to produce a number which is based on what the club has on its member database.
Whether they are full season ticket holders, bundle or family memberships or someone registers their cat, these are all classified as members and should be counted as one each. A breakdown of membership types is a more complex task, however is it relavant in this case?
That being the case, I would presume that the membership figure promoted by each club will be made up of different packages as it suits that particular club, however registered members will appear as just that when a database report is produced.
If anyone knows of a different way to count just memberships (pure and simple), I would love to hear of it, cheers....

There are also Pet Memberships also lol Not sure if these are included in the figures though or if many people would fork out $50 for their dog/cat/fish to be a member :P

Perth only offer 14 game memberships at first. They usually do a 10 Game membership after the first 4 games and last year they also had a 4 game membership released for the final 4 games of the season. So there's a good chance that figure would grow by a few hundred. Pretty sure this years figure is higher than it was last year but i don't have the stats to back that up.

Are the clubs required to report membership levels to the NBL, and for that matter are the NBL required to release any public information on this area?

There's a difference between Season Memberships and Members.
Example the United have 10,000 members. But only a portion of that are people committed to being season ticket holders. Many have "game bundles" consisting of 3-4 games.
The wildcats "members" figure I would assume also has a portion of "game bundle" memberships, although significantly less than Uniteds.
Either way, this is good for clubs.

Great result, 8,102 members gives a strong base to build upon. Only need a 2k walkups each week to perpetually stay above 10k.

United have 10 000? Still great effort by the club, if the prices went down they would get more.
