Coach fired and Fotu ineligible at University of Hawaii
rumours circulating that Fotu's about to turn pro, Breakers....

Breakers as expected have once again let Isaac know that they want him in their program if he decides to turn pro.

Not to get started on the whole NCAA thing but the whole way they do things is ridiculous. They just signed a 10.8 billion dollar TV deal and kids aren't allowed to be loaned a laptop.... Until recently they couldn't even have food bought for them.

Totally agree with Macdub and Paul.
While breaking the rules is not OK, there appears to be no consistent approach in applying them across the board. And yes, there are some pretty ridiculous ones out there too.

No it's not okay.
Its just slightly ironic.
NCAA promotes education i.e. the student comes before athlete.
But a decision like this = Fotu will leave, go back to NZ and probably not continue/finish his education.
I think he will certainly go back if UH can't overturn his season long ban.
It doesn't make sense sitting out a year to go back for one more year, when he can already command a nice salary with the Breakers.

There are more severe infringements out there that I believe the NCAA is "sweeping under the carpet". Look at when a player from UK sits out - they are sitting courtside with what looks like designer jackets, gold and silver chains, fresh kicks.
But they've gone after UH because they're an easy target:
1. they don't have the systems in place like bigger programs to circumnavigate the rules
2. they have past indiscretions
3. Fotu is an easy target having played for the TBs, fielded professional offers and had offers from bigger D1 programs
4. Its Hawaii and not on the mainland.

Fotu is talent. He did very well at the world cup especially at such a young age.
FWIW this is why Scott Fisher left to coach another school in California.

does anyone know if the fox thing is in concrete ?
if so,how long and is there an out clause as with any business deal ?
with the current WFC i think we may better off catering for the masses of FTA than PTV,or better still, a good blend of both! if that is possible!
obvious eg.live on fox and delayed on onehd.
i think the longer b/a delays decisions the better.
as the WFC deepens the pro sport world will be bought back to expose its bear bones.
with so many of these sports already committed to over spending along with dwindling crowds and less corporate dollars,i feel b/a is in the box seat,as long as everyone stays on the same page!!!
