Rubbish, the WNBL isnt just a sports competition. Its also a place where Female Basketball players can aspire to. Coverage on tv lets the teams attract sponsors and the like and get its image out there. If you lose coverage, then by the same token you have sponsors whose imagery is only possible going to be seen on the occasionaly sports story on tv and by the people attending the game.
The WNBL's ratings haven't been too different to the NBL's this year. Personally, I watch more WNBL than NBL and go to more of their games. The talent on display gets better every year and it's a real shame that the budget costs have forced the ABC's hand. I hope the league can find a new FTA station prepared to air it as it's a great product.
Perhaps if we gave Brigit $60,000 to design body suits for the teams then "budgie-smuggler" Daddy will put up some more money for the ABC to televise the award winning designs.
