15/16 Adelaide 36ers Thread

The salary cap and points caps are why i have Daly, Johns and maybe even a rookie replacing Teys in my line ups, as these guys should be able to be signed on minimum.

I reckon the line ups i have suggested would fit under the caps, or very close to.

I think we would need to lose atleast 1 of Gibson, Petrie, Schenscher to run with 2 imports given the points and salary caps, im pretty sure we were on 70 at the end of the season, so cutting Crawford and or Teys for a import wont fit in the points cap i dont think, they combined for 5 or 6 points last season im pretty sure.

Id offer Gibson $110k, Petrie $100k, Schenscher $80k, and the first 2 who accept get the spots and the 3rd misses out, given it looks like Hawks and Crocs guys would be gettable you could also offer guys like Davidson, Forman, Blanchfield, Coenraad, R Martin, Norton, Maqrkovic a spot if more than 1 of these guys reject these offers and leave the club. (Daniel Dillon is 1 id also look into for the $80-100k range)

Bringing a import in gives us flexibility to make it work no matter which 2 of those 3 stay,

Id let Crawford go,

Offer Teys a contract for around $65k

Keep the rest.

Lets say we keep gibson and 1 of the bigs id go with

C Johnson/Petrie or Schenscher
PF Motum/Creek (still gets 25 mins off the bench in sg,sf,pf spots)
SF Donta Smith type import/Teys or rookie
SG Gibson/Johns
PG Wilson/Daly

IF Gibson leaves and we keep both the big guys, we would look like

C Johnson/Schenscher
PF Motum/Petrie
SF/SG Donta Smith import/Teys
SG/SF Creek/Johns
PG Wilson/Daly

Either way looks good to me and either should fit within the salary and points cap.

I have left Newley out but if he were to come in it would be at the expense of Gibson in the first line up, and Schenscher or Petrie in the 2nd line up, i just rekcon he will get offered way more than we can afford to stay in Europe, but would love to have him if he did chose to come back to Aus.

Yeah, forgot about Brock, but I was thinking of more of a 1/2/3 player

Also i'm hearing rumours of Jamarvelous becoming a citizen.

Really, I'm hearing he's going to end up back in Finland, where his wife is from. Something about him possibly being able to qualify to play with the Finnish national team.
That said, it sounds like the Sixers would really like him back, but don't know that they expect it to happen.

I think we need to be realistic and say that Peter Crawford has played his last game as a Sixer. Tom Daly is a good 10th man and has done what was asked of him, but he would be the first to be put on the alter to make way for someone.

I would expect Schensch to be re-signed, but his salary would be reduced. He is 32 and quite handy off the bench so unless his agent stuffs up negotiations, he'll be coming off the bench.

Petrie won't be going anywhere.

Johnson and Motum are high priority targets so they will be back.

Creek is the longest standing Sixer and only a coach who hates fans would move him on.

Wilson is likely to be the MVP so you would get him back if you were smart (unless he was a real pain behind the scenes, which I don't believe he is)

That leaves BJ, Teys and Gibson.

BJ could be held on an injury waiver, but he is more than likely gone.

Teys showed a lot of promise last season and lifted when required. This season he slipped a bit and that might be as a result of circumstances beyond his control. He has done nothing wrong and is a good team member. Maybe he is a bit of trade bait. He might slip into a role in Sydney behind Madgen. If the Sixers are looking for room in the roster, he might be one who is the unfortunate one.

Gibbo, Gibbo, Gibbo. What are we to do with you? There's been a lot said about him on this forum and whether he is over-rated or not got his head in the game at times. Also whether or not him and Wilson are too similar or clash. He is the only NBL player in the Boomers and that should mean something and he is the current Captain. Him and Joey seem pretty tight and it's rare to move your Captain on. I think there are a lot of piece of the jigsaw puzzle to consider. I would expect him to return, but depends if Joey and the Board want the Sixers to head down a particular path that is at odds with Gibbo.

The big thing I want from the Sixers is a decent 3 point shooter. The Sixers have been woeful at this for a while. Every other team has a decent 3 point shooter they can go to when they are two points down and need a 3 to win and you think "yep, don't let him get it" Abba, Wortho, Madge, Oscar the Grouch, Beal, Gliddon.

Overall, I wouldn't expect too many changes
