Aus U17 Men’s first training camp

Re the girls for the next camp. The press release said that a squad of 23 was assembled and the 16 would be invited to the camp on Friday.

I've seen a list with 16 names on it and some that are listed as locks (based on performance at under 16s) are not on it.

What was the relevance of naming 23 players if only 16 get to go to camp?

Yes. Performance in this tournament is only one measure and very dependent on the team around you. The camp is next week, the under 17 coaches are watching most of the games, it's too late for this year, but all will be taken into consideration for the worlds which are next year, you would think.
