Are 36ers bringing back the cheerleaders?

Bring back the Navy Seals

Having been to NBL games bachk when they were played at Apollo Stadium and even Bowden Stadium and then resumed going after it moved to the Power House, one of the first impressions that struck me was that it had become more than just a game, it was a full night of entertainment.
There was always something going on on the court.

It has always felt like the cheerleaders are a part of the package that comes with top level basketball.

Basketball has a lot of "dead time" (Timeouts as well as the quater time and half time breaks, and the crowd needs to be entertained through these times.
If they don't have the cheerleaders then it wil be interesting to see what they are replaced with.

True, but the Celtics are one of the most famous NBA clubs, which their city adore. Their fans have a long good standing with the team. They probably don't need to rely on cheerleaders for extra entertainment. Each market is different.

I had the opportunity to go to a Knicks game last season (yes, during their worst tanking season in their history), and was surprised at how many times the cheerleaders performed. They were on just once in the first quarter. After that, they were not to be seen for the rest of the game.

I don't know whether that was because it was just a 'run of the mill' Tuesday night game, or the fact they were on a 13 game losing streak at that point, but the effort levels the Knicks put in during their game night entertainment was really low. Made for a poor atmosphere overall.

Like them or not, don't care or not, but cheerleaders do add to the game night experience and they certainly will make a noticeble difference if they are not there. Guess Sixers fans will notice this when it happens. I think it will be a bad move to make if its a financial decision.

Potatoes? Dude, you need to get those eyes checked.

Also Jack Toft: Ill gladly keep those gyrating crude dancers/cheerleaders over here!.

Bring on the Voodoo!

Oh, "Australian Outdoor Living" sponsor the floor sweepers, would never have known..........

Let's call a spade a spade, the 36ers cheerleaders are far better looking than the potatoes we have over here in Perth so if they want to dance over here then we'll accept the eye candy!

But seriously it seems rather early in proceedings to make this call!
Are they not wanting to learn new routines as sponsorship isn't there to back them?

Are 36ers keeping their "Australian Outdoor Living" floor sweepers that they must tell us who sponsors them for every drop of sweat... I think it's clever sponsoring but I find it hard to believe the company would rather the floor sweeping than cheerleaders

It may get down to sponsorship. and money

Don't know what the girls get, but let's say a nominal $50 each per game (?). There's 9 of them plus the two talent co-ordinators, plus uniforms, plus training stuff, so you're probably looking at a sponsorship package of $10 - 20K for the season.

Muzz Buzz and Fruchocs were sponsoring last few seasons I think.

We can probably find a dozen dance girls keen to do it, surely we could find a company to sponsor them. Triple Zero Dancers?

The best sponsor would be a FMCG company. People like handouts (e.g. Fruchocs) and the dancers are the ones to do it.

Matthew, we are Adelaidians, crude dances like the "voodoo dance" are not considered appropriate. We'll leave that dance to you savages from the West ;)

Do they get into that Voodoo dance thing over In Adelaide?
