My take on how I'd prefer to see the Wildcats jersey using MS paint.

In reckon the teams should have a unique design for the Blitz and a different one for the season proper.

In the past teams were wearing training tops for preseason games which looked pretty average!

Lets face it, they probably pay $80 - $90 per top, maybe $150 for a full uniform. So they can outfit the squad for less than $2000.
Its a chance to try different looks and adds to the options for fans to buy.

If they get new major sponsorship added through out the season - surely that would justify getting the uniforms redone instead of using iron ons etc. Similar with new players - surely they can get a new siglet with the new player name printed fairly quickly!

Agree Haz. The subtle redesign of their logo also made it look more modern and professional.

Crocs one looks sharp. I've generally never liked their uniforms in the past - too cartoony - but they have turned it around this time and looks professional.

Should probably have meant that jersey was from their worst era in the playoff years since 87, or more recently in the last 15 years.

Don't know why they would want to relive that season! If they wanted to rehash an old jersey, I wouldn't mind seeing the 2000 version in a red style.

Really didn't like the baseball style retro font that have brought back. Maybe if they put a white trim around it, might have been better?

The Breakers uniforms usually look pretty sweet because they are able to lure a large naming rights sponsor long term. They don't need to work in 3-4 different logo's after the fact because it's the same one as last season (currently Sky City Casino & previously Burger King).
I know that can be an enviable situation for some smaller clubs in financial strife but then they need to work much harder at getting them worked in a lot better than the logo's appearing as an after thought as they have been.

It's pretty awesome the NBA have been able to keep their uniforms sponsor free for so long. I wonder how much longer that will last though?

Although I wouldn't say 04-05 was Perth's least successful era. 82-86 would beat it.

If it is to increase sales, I'm not sure how well it works. They get new players every year, which I'd think would drive sales enough on its own. Lots of people bought Ennis jerseys in 2014, which were outdated for 2015. People are going to want Prather and Jawai jerseys.

I can't imagine the Lakers or Celtics are hurting for jersey sales, and they've barely changed their jersey designs ever. And on top of that, the player whose jersey would be most popular in any given year is usually a fixture of the roster from one season to the next, unlike here where it's likely to be one-and-done imports.

Having a consistent design that becomes iconic and associated with the club will do more for sales than chopping and changing every year.

Agree Koberulz.

I don't know why the Wildcats insist on having to change their jersey design every year (I know sponsors change but that should be the only difference). And I don't like the notion that they would only do it to generate more merchandise sales.

It would actually piss me off if stuff that I bought the previous year was already outdated.

And now the Cats seem to have run out of ideas and are rehashing old versions - From their least successful era and ugliest jersey out of all of them - nonetheless.

I'm not sure about naming the women's team after its worst iteration, and then giving the men's team the jerseys from its least successful season in the past 30 years.

That it also happens to be one of the ugliest jerseys over that period just makes it worse.

Too expensive to buy just to wear to games.
Too ugly to wear anywhere else but at games.
So I doubt I'll be buying one this season.

Wildcats jerseys:

The Hawks ones looks a lot better than the Wildcats home ones that they just posted on twitter... ugh...

Is there a pic of the new Crocs jersey anywhere?

Years ago

The new Crocs jerseys look awesome in my opinion. They have stripes and the Crocs logo silhouette on the front. Huge improvement!

Each to their own I guess, but in this case and where we are talking NBL, sponsorship is dictated to the league, not the other way around like it is with a more powerful organisation like the NBA for example.

We have to accept it because we need them more than they need or want us at the moment, unfortunately...

Years ago
I'm all for sponsors as we need them in the NBL but there should be restrictions. Now that every game is televised why not clip the logos on the jerseys and court and give the companies a plug during a timeout or coming back from an ad, tonight's game is brought to you by KFC etc etc.
Those sponsors buy ad time from the TV network, not the league or individual clubs. The jersey sponsorship also gets you on the merch people buy and wear around, photos in the paper, highlights on TV news...

^that makes too much sense.

But it's easier to slap a bumper sticker on a jersey instead of actually planning the integration of the sponsor logo during the design phase.

While sponsor logos on jerseys in the NBL is unavoidable, the name of a team should always take the best position.

As a fan I don't want to buy a "alcohol think again" Jersey. I want to buy a Wildcats jersey.

NZ have gone back to blue away jerseys? Excellent. Loved the ones they used to have.

Wildcats will announce their jerseys tomorrow - in the mean time these leaked TMZ pictures will have to do.

The problem with the advertising is the big white background on a coloured jersey. Get rid of the bumper sticker backgrounds and jerseys will look much nicer.

Sure the logo doesn't stand out as much, but the jerseys look nicer, therefore more people buy it and in turn there is more awareness of the sponsor.
