Wildcats Game-Night Entertainment 2015/16
May as well put this here ...
Martin a possibility to return this Friday vs the Crocs, but Prather went down at training today with a knee injury

No, it's not a copout. When they first started there were no shorts on top, and it was not pretty.

My brain must be learning to completely tune them out, because I barely remember noticing the morphs this game.
I've never been a fan of them, but whatever.
Keep the fire though. I like fire :)

Hand-clappers are awesome, they allow you to clap with one hand whilst still holding your beer.

I have never thought that gimmicks like hand clappers or toys of any kind are worth the money or effort, just not necessary.
I don't mind the idea of a T-Shirt for everyone though...

Yeah I felt the atmosphere was pretty flat especially for a close game between great rivals and yet it was just 'eh'
Next game should be better but what have we got for our 11% extra expenses on our membership?
Would love heaps more changes and as for the band, it was noticeable that when they played that focus went to them and not on the game

The pre-game's been getting progressively worse ever since they started at the Arena, IMO.
Away team is introduced, lights go out, video plays, Wildcats are introduced, the national anthem plays, and then the lights come on. Alright so far. But then during warmups, the lights go out again, the cheerleaders come on and do a routine for no apparent reason, the lights go back on, and a band comes out and plays for a bit. Meanwhile, the warmups (try to) continue, completely ignoring what's going on at center court.
Then they drop the mascot from the ceiling, have announcements of the starting fives, then the warmup concludes, and the game commences.
It's just absurd. The cheerleader routine has no purpose. It used to be that they'd turn the lights out, do that, then introduce the starters. But if they're not doing that, they should just get rid of the whole thing. It just seems like they're doing things for the sake of doing things, the lights are going on and off all night, and I can't imagine the players are too happy with it.
And if we're in such financial trouble, do we really need fire coming out of the lighting rigs every time we hit a three? Okay, it'll only happen a handful of times a year with this team, but surely there's something better to spend that money on? Red decals in the out-of-bounds area come to mind.
The wildcats powers that be have a style in mind that they want played. Any DJ can do it and any DJ is interchangeable u wouldn't and shouldn't notice the difference who is doing it.Then why are you sitting here telling us you could do so much better?
The problem lies in what the powers that be are willing to let be aired. There's all sorts of politics going on. Some that I agree with and make sense and some that are just too wacky to even comprehend.
The problem isn't so much the individual DJs but more so the direction and freedom they are given.

There's two sides to the Paul Malone story. I don't know which is true.
We are the best at it. We aren't perfect, but we are passtionate. the SBL gf was tough and a unique situation (two home teams) a sound technician isn't really needed to be honest.
At the end of the day I just want the product to be better - I'd much rather like to be able to sit in the stands and enjoy the spectacle without thinking "wtf are they thinking".

RMQ give it up, you are NOT the best at it. Just keep trying to suck up to Nick Marvin more, that's how people get gigs at the Wildcats anyways.
If they had any morals they'd get Paul back, but they'd need to apologise a lot first after screwing him over massively. Remember he didn't leave, they fucked him over and stole his playlist when he had to miss a couple games.
Wonder how they can claim to lose a Million dollars yet get even more "performers" involved. Hmmmmm

I liked that the music at the Cats wasn't too loud. To me it should be background music, not the focus of the game.
At the first Lynx home game it seemed they were trying to mimic a nightclub with the extreme volume, and I found it quite unpleasant. Must be annoying to the players having it that loud as well.
Agree that the music selection was better in the DJ Paul days. Everyone that has done it over the last 15 years has badly lacked variation though. I'm good with having regular songs for certain notable times in the game, but not virtually the same songs played every game. Surely it's not hard to have a rotation big enough so that a song only appears every 3 or 4 games.
As for Friday's game in particular, I find that the first home game of a season is always a bit flat. No one's fault - it just takes everyone a game to get back into full #RedArmy mode. I'm tipping that the crowd will be more into it next game.

Haha. The fact remains we are the best Bball DJs in the country. I stand by that.
I've been involved with the club in the past in producing a number of items. It's not really a dream to do it. I honestly think we'd be better at it then anyone else, even with all the restrictions the club have in place.
Music production at games has been ordinary ever since DJ Paul Malone left.

The music and sound was way to quiet.
The problem is the Wildcats use the emergency PA system at Perth Arena. It was never intended for that PA system to be used for any gigs.
It's just too expensive to get a specialised sound rig up for every home game.
The DJ and music was the same it has been for the past 3 seasons. It was very quiet though.
The marching band has potential, so I'll give it time. Their tempo on the defence drums was too fast for the crowd at times. Also there was too much of them during the 2nd quarter.
The atmosphere felt extremely flat. The new Foxtel settings interfered with the wireless mics and mc and national anthem singer mics.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that everything announced via the PA system is inaudible. Where we sit we can't distinguish anything being said.
Wil ur was cool... Just get ready to see that same act 13 more times.
Dunk team looked like a gymnastics team throwing a ball through a hoop.
Marching band members lacked a bit of swag/charisma.
Traditionally the first home game of a season always has some bugs.
Ideally they'd get rid of the current DJs and hire us.

Wasn't a fan of the marching band tbh, also who the fuck thought those P&N Bank fly swatter things were a good idea?? Of course people were going to hurl them around. Nearly sliced through one of sound guys' neck, and another clipped a security guard. I will say, the Wildcats focus too much on their game night sponsors. Too much P&N Bank shit, no one gives a shit about P&N Bank

Liked the marching band and drums a lot.
The theatrics of Wilbur from the roof top (flying fox/bungee) was great also.
I thought the court side announcer was pretty awesome also, not quite a Lachy Reid but much better than previous years. Not sure if he was there last year.
The music was OK at time but still think it needs to be limited more and not as loud.
