Taipans - Crocs, Jan 8th
"Worthington: 18 minutes, 0-1 shooting, 1 rebound, 2 assists.
Burston: 18 minutes, 1-2 shooting, 3 rebounds.
Cairns may have won, but this has been the big issue for them this season IMO - same when Loughton was starting. Their starting bigs have too many nights when they bring absolutely nothing."
Worthington and Burston have been the starters for a while.
Worthington has been strong all season and even when he has a below par offensive night he still mostly brings plenty to the table with a strong all round game.
In last nights game he picked up 2 early fouls and sat down for a majority of the first half. The game was well in control when he came back into it and he defended strongly. He didn't need to do any more than that and it needs to be remembered that this was the Taipans 4th game in 9 days and their 2nd game in 3 days.
Burston doesn't often put up big numbers. As another poster mentioned, he has had his moments - especially early in games. He is very good defensively and that is his main role most of the time, particularly against the better centres in the league.
To say they have too many nights when they bring absolutely nothing is simply not correct.
That is not to say there haven't been problems with the bigs this season as I tend to think that Worthington's inclusion in the Taipans line up has messed with the dynamicschemistry in that area and it has taken them all some time to get used to that.

For the NBL to really flourish the grind it out, ugly as hell games need to be a thing of the past.
They are terrible to watch, the average viewer will not keep sitting through that.

Their bigs are all slow, aging and losing skills. Not a good mix for a League trying to get quicker and more athletic.

There seems to be a lot of ugly games involving Cairns

This game made my eyes bleed.
