Game tempo in Wildcats-Hawks series
Basketball is one of the those sports that is almost equal mixtures of offence and defence.
So-called "tempo" reflects that.
At the end of the day, you can win with 80 points, or lose with 100, depending on your D.
Despite having two of the best defensive players in the league, Hawks are generally not as strong on D, relying on their offence. Also, even that magnificent offence is not as deep as Perth's.
With Lisch out there was possibly the expectation that the Hawks D would crumble, and that also losing their best offensive player would test their depth.
As it turned out, it was Perth's D that crumbled at times, and the Hawks second string stepped up big-time.

Martin is shooting 67% from three so far in the series, but let's not let the facts get in the way.

I thought Perth did keep pretty calm at their own end and for the most part tried to run the right things. The plan at that end wasn't too bad IMO, their execution let them down.
Defence was the far bigger issue for us. And that's what the Hawks can do to you when they get rolling. That's why they're so dangerous, and why that 0-23 streak in Perth is not much comfort to me at all going into tonight.
