So now we have people posting and referring to under 17's and kids born 1998, what a confusing thread!

I think the June 1st date is an error. (1) there isn't a location finalised for the event and (2) BA would have named our squads a long time ago if it were to be held 1st June

I think our u17 girls have a real shot at getting a medal but I think our men's team will struggle making the top 5.

Agree. Much stronger than the other 3 though currently playing. Getting only limited minutes I believe.
Cochrane is certainly a nice prospect, currently at 6'5 and born 00. Could possibly grow into a 6'6-6'7 pf...
Not sure Magbegor, mcspadden and Pizzey will grow too much more.

Aukuso a long, long way behind her COE peers. Not saying she won't be able to make up some of that ground in the next year, but you have to expect the others will continue to improve. Have a look what is happening with their SEABL team. Three young ones setting the standard so far.

U17 worlds women starts 22nd June.
U17 worlds men starts 23rd June.

The updated fiba calendar says starts June 1st.

OP - what does June 1st refer to? Is that the date of the squad announcement?

Would be an Awesome front court with both Magbegor and aokuso. Both at Coe.
Noticed that there's not a lot of bigs in that 98 class for girls.

Kids born 1998 or younger.
Expecting some 99s to be selected and possibly a 00.

nz camp possibly?

Every chance quite a few from this u17 squad will play u19 worlds. Be surprised if Maley plays.

i can't think of anyone better than those 10 boys...
you can probably add a couple of 99 girls to that squad next year, but they are probably preparing for u17s later in the month, so can't make it. Magbegor, Simmons maybe.

I think all those in the above post are in with a shot. It'll also depend largely on which American based players are able to fly home for training/camps etc. I'd be surprised if Caporn hadn't been in contact with some of those players already to gauge their interest and availability.

Who else might make the squad instead then?
Kiir, mading, cherry, Hadley, magnay, Panayiotou?
Wragg, atwell, elsworthy, hoycard, Lindsay ?

lol those teams are far from the best available

The best available?
McDowell-White/Healy
Glover/kenyon
Mayen/mayot
Froling/maker
Humphries/gak
Molloy/rocci
Horvat/Yaegar
Maley/Ogier
Bibby/andriuolo
Aokuso/tofeano

Former Waikato Pistons basketballer Rashad Tucker is a wanted man after he failed to appear in court on a drink-driving charge.Full story
And it appears that four days before his court appearance the US-born player left the country to play in Australia.
An arrest warrant for Tucker, 34, was issued yesterday after he didn't turn up in the Hamilton District Court on a charge following an incident in Hamilton last month. Community Magistrate Kathryn Wilson issued the warrant for Tucker's arrest after the matter was initially stood down by a court registrar.
Waikato Basketball chief executive John Davey said Tucker hadn't informed him of the charge before leaving to pursue a second-tier basketball contract in Adelaide on Saturday.
