U17 worlds squad camp

Have to guarantee Coe players?

Even though they lost against China u19, Croatia u19 and Lithuania u20 teams and beat Chinese u17s.

I would still alter the side if it was up to me.

Add hulland and stoddart.

Would BA ever consider changing there selections for mens team based on the last 2 weeks in China ?

5'11 at the the 3 spot is plenty big enough. The majority of the teams we will be facing are much smaller. Much smaller...

We are bigger than Mexico, France and China. (Our pool games)

Infact, only 1 team bigger than us across the board in the tournament and that's the USA.

Yeah nah. This is about how the kids compete against the best in the world not how they go playing at Country Cup.

Simmons is probably the best 2 in the squad, but WAY too small to play 3 in the big time.

Why bring this rubbish up, I don't see how it helps anybody.

Maybe get your facts correct before sprouting off... Why are you excluding the other 4 teams that were staying there?!

Simmons is better at the 3 imo. She isnt as great of an outside shooter in comparison to some of the others, but she's got a nose for the ball and a great rebounder, passer and defender.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they ran 3 of these at the same time with two of Magbegor, Cochrane & Pizzey on the court.

I think Shelley would be better at the 2. Conti at the 1.
2nd unit with goodchild at the 2. Cubillo at the 1.

But, more than likely Shelley will start at 1 with 1 of Conti or cubillo as backup.

Conti starting for Aus but not Vic Met? I kind of liked her in that role off the bench.

Starting 5's for the both boys and girls? Iyo...

Plus the teams they play will be different to the ones played by previous years so you cannot even begin to judge....

Good luck to our next generation of ballers, hope they enjoy the experience.

Comparing them to previous teams isn't going to be known until after worlds, then you can start making judgmental statements, rather leave it for now IMHO.

Awesome to see another local Geelong Supercat following on from a several previous male and female athletes that program has developed, great stuff...

Anyone know where I can watch the boys and girls fiba Oceania u16s from last year?
It was on nz tv, but it's not on YouTube or anything.
A few mix tapes out but I want to watch both games in full.

Not sure what nepotism you mean about Matt Day not being selected? The four guards who were selected all did a very good job at Nationals and proved they were selected for a reason. Matt Day is a good young kid but at the end of the day he was overlooked along with many other solid guards...

Matt Day, wh's in the NPP, didn't make the Vic Metro men's team. No doubt nepotism at its best.

Just look at the u16 state rosters. Very deep in all positions. We are going to have an excellent u17 side once again in 2018.

Heal, manumaleuga and obah alone in qld Sth squad.
Ripper squads in both nsw, sa, and vic teams also.
Some promising bigs coming through too I might add.

Be interesting to see how they all go in July.

In my opinion she is not even close to being the best player in her position for her age.

I don't think heal will make the squad. She can still make the u17 squad in 2018 I believe.

As a Victorian, I was pleased to see young Macdonald in the squad. He looked very composed and ended the week with handy stats. Congrats to all of these seriously talented athletes!!

You do know that they don't just select from the U18 champs. The SA lad got an invite last year without making the team.

Got to say its a difficult task to pick 16 boys from all over the country. Congrats to those that have been selected.

Would have liked to see a couple more SA boys after a good showing in Adelaide last week but can't fit everyone.

Unfortunately one of the countries best male point guards was ineligible, due to nepotism keeping him out of the National 18's.

women have a serious shot of getting a medal for the first time.

I don't think the men will do so well. top 6 maybe.
