Pacers dump coach Vogel
You know you've made a bad decision, when half the oppsition clubs are lining up to sign the guy you just sacked, and all your fans hate the decision.
Vogel has issues with his coaching. Drawing up plays late in games being the big thing. But he's done an amazing job with this club.

Antagonized who?
Bird never said he wanted to PG13 to play the 4. He had a discussion with PG where he stated he wanted to remain in the 3 spot, to which Bird agreed, he would just find someone else to run the 4 spot.
No one has been antagonized. I think this puts them in an excellent position to chase a certified coach (nothing against Vogel) & add a few more players. Wouldn't be surprised if you see them contending in the ECF next season.

Bird didn't dump Vogel because he thought he was a bad coach he just felt like things had peaked and that it was time for a new voice. Vogel can probably have much more impact as a fresh voice for an underachieving team like Houston than he would've by staying at Indiana. If bird wants to change the games style, Mike dantoni sounds perfect

Bird has done a pretty good job of effing things up in Indiana. The whole Hibbert/D. West stuff, but now opting not to retain one of the better coaches in the league while also antagonizing his own (and only) star player in the process.

Rockets already made him a priority

Vogel hasn't been in charge of defense. That has always been Dan Burke' job.

Scoring more is a bit pointless in terms of results if your defence is likely to slip.

If you want to score more points, get players into your program who can score. Firing/not retaining a very good coach isn't the answer.
Vogel is one of the better coaches in the league, you'd think he'd be able to walk into another job somewhere.
Who'd be a coach in the NBA - getting fired for over-achieving!?! Crazy..

Yes Farrison, while the offense might get better with a new coach (I personally don't think it will) the Pacers defense will regress heavily unless they are bringing in someone else that is a proven defensive coach. Thibs is the only person that springs to mind that was out there that is in the same conversation as Vogel.
Bird said in the press conference this change is so Paul George can play more of the 4 in an offense structured around that. Something the PG has publicly said he is against.
Just reeks of a dumb decision IMO

Vogel could never push the team that much further. Bird highlighted he wanted to score more points, Pacers have one of the worst offensive efficiency going around (& have his entire tenure).
Makes sense. He's laid the foundation for someone to take them to the next level.

Overachieved for years imo with a roster that basically contained Paul George, an ageing david west and lumbering roy hibbert. Seems to be able to get the most out of role players as well the last couple of years.

yeeeah baby, someone to fill the void Boozer left, a bigger body over 6"10 ;)
The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to send power forward Al Jefferson to the Utah Jazz for center Kosta Koufos and two future first-round draft picks.
definitely makes the jazz a whole lot better!
considering we only gave up two first rounders and Kosta Koufos to get him think its a perfect move from Utah.
