I have no problem with saying second best women's national league, it's a contestable point but at least you can make a case for the WNBL, but saying it is the second best full stop is just silly.

doesn't this just beg the question as to what Maley will be doing?

GM Competitions running what? SEABL and the junior champs? Seems like a very small portfolio.

It's a stretch to state that the WNBL is the 2nd best 'domestic' league or 'national' league in the world when the Leagues in China, Turkey and even South Korea pay enough to their players to draw the world's best. But when you don't even apply the 'domestic' or 'national' caveat to the statement it asks us to believe that the WNBL is better than EuroLeague??

However, we're all used to the industrial strength fertilizer that comes out of BA in reference to the WNBL. The players and the fans deserve so much better, but we'd settle for a little bit of truth every now and then.

Good news that there is someone now in this role. She's got some serious work ahead of her.

Couldn't help noticing that she started off by rolling out the old "No. 2 women's league in the world" Paul Maley-ism though :/ (No, it's not a big deal at all in the scheme of things, it just bugs me because it's so obviously wrong)

I wonder if they need to "restructure" the WNBL into a much more condensed season - similar to what netball has done and similar to what the Big bash does with a short season.
Somehow netball has managed to get itself sponsorship and FTA TV coverage.
The WNBL needs to have a good loos at what Netball has done and present itself as a great option to fill the summer TV slot that netball fills in winter.
