"When we had a look at the team, it was going to be either Angela or Mia who were going to be captain," Breheny said.

"When we spoke to them independently, both were happy for the other one to captain and to take the role of their assistant or vice-captain."

Instead, Breheny said appointing them as co-captains given their relatively youthful ages seemed a better resolution. Marino is 24 and Newley is 22.
