Still haven't watched game 1 (bloody ESPN decided to just not show the game) ... but geez, game 2 was a total fizzer.

For the Mercury I would have got up at 3am but not for Minnesota-LA
I haven't watched it yet. I'll probably just tape ESPN tonight and catch it tomorrow morning, so no comment yet from me other than being happy that LA have made this series interesting.

I think pro / rel system is the way to go - my 2 kids played in a pro / rel comp last season and we had the most balanced matches as the season went on. the kids enjoyed more equal competition.

however with time and getting to talk with other families, know players etc - there is a serious flaw with the current system that we are running.

All member clubs can have a definite div 1 and div 2 spot. Those rights are locked and not performance based - ie a pre - determined right to be there.

so the second div 2 team from any club remaining in div 2 is "results" based (if there are too many nominations). This is a flaw - as we witnessed last season the "results" based team was stacked that could be relegated and as soon as they were assured of maintaining a div 2 spot half the team moved to the certain placement team.

There was no pressure for the div 1 or first div 2 team to be at their best as they were assured a spot - so a mid range placement would not affect them.

it all makes our pro / rel system irrelevant
