WNBL games being broadcast????

Last sentence is spot on Luuuc, sadly.

One of the few hopes for the WNBL is the NBL becomes commercially successful under LK and gets to the point where they can bankroll the women's league to look like good corporate citizens as is happening in some other sports at the moment.

We're still a way off that though, NBL still has plenty of work just to stand on its own two feet.

Yeah, it's really all lip service until people are willing to put their $$ where their mouth is - in terms of both sponsors and fans. The teams seem to fight pretty hard for recognition but it's a tough sponsorship market out there, and especially competitive for women's teams now with more sports than ever fighting for the few dollars on offer.
Complacency/laziness by the league/BA in the early years of this decade is really being felt now.

And yet Foxtel channels play NBL classics and repeats from over ten years ago !!! makes absolutely no sense at all, they could use those slots for women's basketball....what ever happened to their insistence on equality.

Dandenong Rangers actually did make CH10 news this week ( well it was the weather guy ) for about a nano second, where they actually said women's WNBL is overlooked as a sport.....really Einstein !!
And basketball is even getting a mention in the Herald sun, the women get an 1/8th of the page for mentioning of ALL the teams in Vic, the men( one team in vic) get a huge article plus colour photo, plus their interstate opponents get another column equal in size to the entire WNBL article......irony is the men had lost....yet the Victoria women all won their games.

Perfect example of equality in sport ...disgraceful

Don't expect a to deal anytime in the next decade

Yes, Lynx did one last night (as per the WNBL Round 3 thread) and it seemed like they put some real effort into it, including a guy who was listening in to the timeouts.

But I gather the internet connection at Bendat basketball centre must be bad, because there were complaints that the stream was really choppy. The Lynx made a point of calling this a "pilot" attempt, and last season when they live streamed the grand final they had a proper OB van on site, which obviously would not be viable to have every game. And that area doesn't even have a date listed on the NBN rollout map, so :/

Adelaide Lightning did a live stream for the 1st time on Friday and it was great quality.
They had a few different camera angles plus John Casey commentating and Rachel Sporn on special comments.

I think Perth Lynx are doing the same.

Yeah there have been a couple of quotes from Sally Phillips in recent weeks, but they amount to nothing more than "we're working on it, but it costs money, and we're not landing the big sponsors we need to pay for it"
I think the fact that other teams are joining Dandenong in YouTubeVille this season basically says to me that they're resigned to providing their own coverage for the foreseeable future.

There has been much talk about the impact of the new three point line, but the stats suggest it isnt having a negative impact:

http://www.nbl.com.au/news/article/2010/november/new-three-point-line-making-little-difference/

Is this a surprise?
