SEABL 2017 off season changes?
Yes it will be an interesting matchup when The Mount plays Hobart again on July 28. ;)

Refs unable to adjust to reffing NBL players.
Garlepp to a charge and was warned after he disputed the call. It was a clear charge and he didn't flop as that would require him hitting the floor. He didn't. 2nd call was similar but he did take a legitimate charge and was knocked to the ground in the process. he again disputed the call and was ejected.
Todd Spain was ok but the other 2 simply weren't up to it. Top of the table clash deserved top of the table refs.
Chargers weren't up to it. Muo wasn't playing well and after the arm wrestle the night before they were clearly tired. Their travel arrangements were to blame as well but that's another story.

3 flops and 2 techs isn't the reason at all. Were you at the game? I bet No way. If you were there clearly you don't what actually transpired.

Chargers men drop a game to Bendigo by 2 points in a nail biter. Always an ugly arm wrestle of a game the home crowd helped the Braves get over the line.

i dont think it is then daylight. nunawading and geelong will especially make it tough for mt gambier to get through their conference. i think bendigo will be a danger to hobart, they will put a strong back end of season together, only need to look at what they did to mt gambier to realise that they can not only beat but destroy any team on their night,

so are the mid season favourites for the Gf hobart and Mt Gambier??? would pretty impresive for mt gambier to make 5 in a row if it happens.

No one interested in seabl it seems. Chargers season coming to a head this weekend. Bendigo and Ballarat away. True test for them.

Muo certainly clearly MVP favourite at this stage. Plus a distinct possibility of a spot on the Kings roster.

Chargers men mid season favourites for the Finals.
Hobart (9-3)
"Easily the most efficient offensive team this season, Hobart are averaging 98.8 points per game and have cracked 110 points three times already in 2017. Four players are recording 15+ points per contest, led by Mathiang Muo whose 24.8 points at 47% shooting and 42% three-point shooting have him installed as an MVP candidate. The Chargers have also done well to retain the services of Tommy Garlepp (23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds) while Rob Heyer and Chris Whitehead are combining for 30.1 points and 6.9 assists. Lewis Thomas has only played five games and will add another weapon to their arsenal as Hobart aim to reach their first Grand Final since 2010. They have made the most of a heavy home schedule through the first half of the year with a 7-1 record at the Derwent Entertainment Centre but the pressure will be on out of the break with just four more games at home."

Miners giving away big starts in to many games, the guards got to lift in defence and limit turn overs. Will still be in good position, coaches doing very well in promoting team but not certain all are listening.

Game of the Week. Miners Vs Chargers. head to head effectively 1Vs 1. Sunday tip off men 2-m. Ladies 12pm b2K. Back to Kingbourough. 1st time there for a long time. Recognising local Devils players from their NBL times their. Good idea.

The real game of the week. Spectres #2 Vs Chargers #1.
Tom Wright (Spectres) former Chargers captain Vs his old team the Chargers.

BA do little enough now and the Rnd 9 Game of the week this week. 2nd bottom Vs bottom.

More southern bias. North has the same population base yet south gets the bulk of money? Fcking Hobart.

The bulk has been apportioned to the Chargers. This season they have conducted clinics involving 8000+ kids already. Ongoing funding will ensure more kids are seen and the prospects to develop these kids into basketball converts if huge.
Even in the Devils days the number of kids and clinics done was never as high as these numbers.

"The Telstra Hobart Chargers welcome today's announcement by Hon. Elise Archer MP that the government will provide $105,000 to the Club to deliver 350 school based clinics to 8,000 southern Tasmanian school aged children."

"The Chargers could be in line for an unexpected boost with Lewis Thomas a possibility of making his club debut earlier than anticipated.
British-born Thomas wasn’t expected to be available until at least the end of the month, but with his current side the Glasgow Rocks knocked out of the British Basketball League finals on Monday he could suit up sooner."

Nunawading host Mt Gambier on Sunday afternoon. Both undefeated. That should be game on the round.

Match of the round should be the Braves Vs Hobart.
After bolting out of the gates the Hobart team with 4 wins at home hit the road last weekend and came up empty. Losing a close one in Albury by 3 the Chargers managed to lose in 2 x OT Vs Kilsyth and allow the Cobras to run away with the game by 9.
Braves on the other hand are mid range in the South (4-4) and Harvey will have a point to prove against his old club and Anthony Stewart. 2pm Tip Off Sunday at the DEC is a first in Hobart.

Rest assured he was never going to be invited back to Hobart With no crowds turning up to watch him get techs from the sidelines, even an ejection from the one game and losing a game and scoring 51 points in that game his X's and O's may be great. However people skills, player communication and a non bullying style of coach is what was needed. Angry man. Not a petulant coach who did no pre season, minimal appearances at training and a coach who had no skills in dealing with adults.
That is abundantly clear in the Torns case too. However they have shut up shop about that.
The players were going to walk if he continued on as their coach.

I'll state I've played for Rush and since then moved on to in leagues around Australia.
Ben struggles with the people skills to coach seniors, as for doing back ground chargers announced the travel was the only reason for not bringing him back. Now I know a lot of there players personally and they say he was hard to deal with but nothing too bad about him. So all this bashing is coming from people who haven't coached at this level, if you have apply for the Torns position.
Rush X's and O's are strong, I look at him as a good assistant coach and he did well in his first stints as a development officer

Launceston Men haven't existed for years. No reason not to at least ask even unofficially. More fool them. It was always going to end in tears. Rush gets a pay out because he cant coach at that level because the Torns didn't do their homework. It wasn't that long ago they were broke. No wonder.

"whatever happened to background checks?"
Launceston and Hobart aren't on speaking terms :P

From the article "Finlay said he had all the credentials to take the club forward and had trumped national and international interest in the position." That's the dumbest quote I have read in a long time. It speaks poorly of everyone else that applied for the position and the Torns process's to hire Rush. More like Rush is here in our backyard and we will give him a crack. Rush is flat out coaching kids and it's now been proved twice he is incapable of coaching adults.
He can have more family time. He won't be getting a head coaching job with adults again that's for sure.
"There has been growing recognition that the playing group and head coach are finding it difficult to be on the same page,” was the closest thing to an explanation provided."
PLayers 1 Rush still zero.

whatever happened to background checks?
one phone call to the hobart chargers or speaking to any one of the playing group would have quickly crossed Rush from the potential coach list

More of the non story.

If due diligence had been done he would never have been hired in the first place.
