What are the benefits of Pre-Season Games
Get a feel for the opposition and their new players (new players - anstey returning, how dominanat will he be).
If there were no pre season games, or blitz, how will the Sixers prepare for a team like Perth were they have made some major changes? They would have no prior knowledge of new players.
As mentioned above great oppurtunity to try different combinations and plays and give the youngsters a good run and feel of NBL.
Re Gower guarding D-Mac, probably would never happen in the NBL - unless Gower completly shut him down (in the pre season) - and a preseason game is the only oppurtunity a guy like gower etc would get to try it.
Think it was mentioned Nash was defending the 5 at one stage - once again not likely to happen in the NBL, but if he can do it (and sounds like he did alright) than the coaches now know - probably worst case scenario - that they can throw Nash in the middle to mix things up a bit. (or maybe save Reesy if he is getting in foul trouble).
I would think they would benefit so much more out of pre-season games than just a regular training run.
