Potential Wellington expansion roster 2018
In terms of Welly players: Leon Henry, Dion Prewster, Brook Ruscoe, Jordan Ngatai, Tom Vodanovich (NCAA)
Other possible non-Breaker options: BJ Anthony (played many seasons for the Saints), Tony Tolovae, Finn Delany, Jarrod Kenny, Tai Wesley, Michael Karena, Tohi Smith-Milner, Duane Bailey.
Realistic roster?
Import / Michael Karena
Tai Wesley / BJ Anthony / Tom Vodanovich
Leon Henry / Jordan Ngatai
Corey Webster / Dion Prewster (C-Web leaves the Breakers due to ongoing personal issues)
Import / Shea Ili
A realistic Breakers roster in a couple years..
Rob Loe / Alex Pledger
Import / Jack Salt
Tom Abercrombie / Ethan Rusbatch / Finn Delany
Import / Kirk Penney
Tai Webster / Derone Raukawa
I think the Wellington team needs to be realistic - start small, possibly work with the NZ NBL team in terms of imports/salaries, integrate with the local Academy with view to DPs and build a culture. There's no incentive in the get-rich-quick strategy.

People using the wrong words doesn't make them the right words."
The hoops expert has finally got it right.

Not sure why we're arguing about a year? It will happen when it happens. Even if LK meant 2017/18, it might not happen until the next season, or the season after. Just like Brissy.
If they want to go with only Kiwis + imports, and be competitive early, they'll need to plan ahead.
But that said, 3 good imports can make a lot of difference, and a team's fortunes can change in one off-season.
Rather than looking simply at available Kiwi's, are any of the current crop actually FROM Wellington?
The chance to play for a bit of home-town pride, might be a factor for some.
And getting a good coach and GM is critical.

Even though the intended meaning is obvious to everyone I choose to be a pain in the arse for no good reason. I am not even going to bother reading the article.
I going to take a simple thing like 2018 and read it out of context as a basketball season when it was clearly just written to indicate the calendar year in question. Then I will claim that it is the article that is wrong instead of me making an incorrect assumption and then being a dick about it afterwards because when I am in a hole I am fine with digging it even deeper.

In the context of that article, if the 2017/18 season is going to be referred to as "2017" then that would make this season 2016. Quite clearly.People using the wrong words doesn't make them the right words.
I've read every article linked to in this thread.

Have you still not read the article? Or as least the quotes from it. I guess you failed maths or at least comprehension

Did you read the article KR. I guess not. Is this season 2017? No.
Here it is in part.
“It’s not five years away, but I’d say it’s probably challenging for next year. “But if you wanted my calculated guess, I think we will probably see more teams not next year but the year after.
Read KR if you can before making a fool of your self. 2018/2019.
After that Darwin and Hobart.

The expansion will happen in 2018 according to LK, meaning any new teams will play in 2018/19.

Just for fun:
McKay/Salt/Karena
Whittington/Anthony
Harris/M Jones/Rusbatch
C Webster/Prewster
T Webster/Kenny

Hahaha, they'd lose every game

People are quick to criticise coaches and in some cases fair enough. In the 36rs case hold up! The 36rs now have 2 of the best TEACHING coaches in the NBL. Take a look around the league and compare, half should not even be coaching. There is a difference between good motivators and good teachers! New culture, new system and new players. 36rs fans have patience these two guys will deliver.
