WA SBL - February 2017
New SBL thread for March....
www.hoops.com.au/forum/40986-wa-sbl-march-2017

I think that is the purpose of the session and the testing. Not performance enhancers

HAHA!
What would penalties be?
3 strike policy?
what a joke!

So what's with the sudden introduction of compulsory drug seminars for all players at the Blitz this weekend?
I can't see anyone being caught for performance enhancing drugs but recreational perhaps?
I'm sure we've all heard stories from around the league but do you think these so called "stories" may have got back to the powers that be...?

It's lit AF

Very good

what are peoples thoughts on the sbl promo video for the upcoming 2017 season?

does anyone know anything about the goldfields giants new signing in luke pike .
is a former teammate of Daniel goodluck at north Adelaide . does he go alright.
quite a few south Australians on that squad.

I know who TJ Hallice is...but dunno who this Anderson fella is Pike was talking about. Maybe he had to throw that in there just to remind everyone who was writing the article...

Heard Slammers beat Wolves by double digits

So the team-by-team articles have started to drop from Chris Pike. I must admit his articles were much better last season.
Today was the Lightning. Based on the predictions here everyone has them in the bottom three this year. I think they might finish a bit higher than that, but so much will depend on the young U20's guys and how they go with almost no experience in what could be the first year as starters.
Based on their past playing history Padgett should be legit but Atkinson remains unproven.

Hickert and Adekponya didnt play for Hawks. Encouraging win, but lets remember we are talking about a pre season game.

Adding a 2 x COTY & Adekponya and also the option of a 2nd import once/if BC is naturalised is why ranked 1.
Its really a coin toss between Hawks/Tigers/Wolves at this early stage.

lol at Adekponya being overrated.

Uhmmm I think Adekponya is being rated correctly. 26ppg 10 rpg - well deserved all star 5. Probably the best Aussie in the league, if not Gfield.

Hawks import Waters is legit.Hawks had 5 players out of their rotation who didnt play yesterday. Think they will be solid chance at a top 4 spot if everyone is healthy.

lol when Hawks go from just inside the 8 to winning the championship according to that guy above ^^ just by adding Adekponya.
Remember when Damien Scott held Adekponya to 29% FG and dropped 45 points on him. really think Adekponya is a little overrated, and plays little to NO defence

Smart move by EP if true. Some of the horror stories that came from the Cockburn lads last year were terrible.

Fair chance that the EP boys are telling the truth.

re: WA SBL - February 2017 who did you like form the game? any new players?

A couple of EP boys saying they aren't getting Goode after all?
Talking BS or the truth?

Parsons might've done it again in terms of team cohesion Hawks looked good

rockingham beat Mandurah by 8 . no imports in the game . they were all watching on the sidelines.
some good kids on both sides.

1) Hawks
2) Wolves
3) Tigers
4) Buccs
5) Senators
6) Redbacks
7) Slammers
8) Giants
9) Cougars
10) Flames
11) East Perth
12) Lakeside
13) Magic
14) Suns

Hawks looked impressive and that was without a full roster

tigers played Hawks got up, fast paced game 10min Qs, good to see big bodies banging in the paint with Ray T and BC working hard!

Anyone know the results from the pre-season games that happened on the weekend just gone? I think Hawks and Tigers were Saturday and Flames played someone on Friday?
Anyone know anything?
Cougars and Tigers played the weekend before. Tigers with full roster including both imports were way too good for a very under manned Cougars side. No Field (U20’s), DT and Chan. Tiger won + 20

really looking forward to watching some of the new imports coming into the league over the weekend.
both men and womens .
I like watching the country teams they take it seriously has they don't get to many hit outs during pre-season.
some good girls imports im keen on watching martin and harmon

Billups looks like a bruiser. He has a defibrillator to help his heart condition. Looks like a solid pickup for Cockburn

Under 14 girls played basketball today in 40C heat with no AirCon, you must be one of those 'season too long' people.
Cancel all the rumours about SaiQuon. Cougars signing 6'6 bigman from Northern Kentucky, Jalen Billups

Hes playing for Central Districts Lions in SA. Not sure if thats real or not.

As of a few weeks ago Stone was due to play in Adelaide for the season. Not sure if thats still happening.

Stone is apparently coming down to play in Australia again (he played in Victoria in 2014), but no indication of what team, or even what league it will be.

Cougars are signing one big and not him. Then that is all they are getting. No second import at all.

According to James Padgett twitter Stone is here to play SBL. So must be the cougars.

cougars are not signing either of those guys and no chance of two imports. The cougars organisation don't want a second import as they clearly are happy to just go backwards.
They are focused on developing the young guys, but you need to have the young guys to develop in specific spots whilst still winning.
Having an import in a spot is not an issue.

Im not sure on Stone if that is true or not, but maybe he is there to just help out and by some time before Davante Gardner arrives.
He is mid contract at the moment and likely wont join Cougars to mid year....
However he looks LEGIT!!!

Stone looks serviceable, but nothing amazing. No doubt they will bring in a visa 4/5 import.

Stone is a 6-6" small forward.
The Cougars must have something up there sleeve because surely they are not relying on Field, Della and Holmes to look after the big man side of things?

Cougars import is SaiQuon Stone. Arrived on the same flight as James Padgett (lightning import)

Lochlan is a great kid, good shooter and can hoop. He just returned from College and he seems to be willing to learn more.
Will be a good addition to Cockburn moving forward, Cockburn just lack some decent Bigs. Guards are sorted with Van Lit, Thomas, Chan and Cummings, they all can rotate 1-2.
Bigs right now are Field, Della & Holmes.
Field and Della are legit, Holmes still seems to have trouble as an undersized big. They need two imports in that 3-5 spots.

Cummings is the kid from Willo, who has followed Nener. He will be pretty good.
