Are the Wildcats the playoff underdogs?
I don't know exactly how much Cairns spent, but I think we all know they have pursued a very tight fiscal policy for years. And generally done very well with it.
Its one of the reason why I can't understand why people rubbish Frearne. He does a lot more with a lot less, and always has.

You get what you pay for as the cliche goes.
Well the Wildcats paid a much bigger amount for their stars than Cairns would have.
And a full fit team will show up in Cairns this time. I just think Cairns would know why the cliche is correct.

It's part of what makes this season's 36ers team so special too.
Indeed, I still remember Joey's announcement early in the season when the Sixers were struggling that they can't afford to change any imports this season so accept it and then the big streak started soon after.

You are quoting a different Anon.Oh gees, nearly pissed myself laughing when I read that.
Those weren't my words
Do you not understand that is the whole problem with anonytrolls??

Perth were very fortunate to have Bendat come into the fold, before that they were bleeding money for while. You need to spend money to make money and its pretty similar to what we are seeing with LK and the NBL. Hopefully with the attention the NBL is getting now other clubs will attract some big club owners.

^ Funnily enough the final four that season also involved ADL and those infamous Damon Lowery free throws :P

CNS-ILL GF would be epic, lowest spenders making it.
A lot of ppl mention the old TSV-ILL GF about how two regional teams made it bla bla bla but back then TSV were spending $$$$$ and ILL also had a $ backer at the time.

Yeah I wish all teams had the luxury to do that.
That's why I've always had love for teams like the Hawks & Taipans that do so much with what they've got. It's part of what makes this season's 36ers team so special too.

The Cats have a huge turnover, no doubt about it, but that doesn't always result in huge profits. The income generated by averaging 12000ish crowds would largely be offset by the costs of the venue required to house that many fans and the game day entertainment costs required to keep the fans coming.
They made a huge profit a couple of years ago but were rumored to have lost money the following year.
But let's no kid ourselves, they would be one of if not the most wealthiest clubs in the NBL but that doesn't exactly mean they are swimming in cash. It does benefit them by being able to chop and change their roster/cut contracts etc where other teams in the league can't afford to do that.

The only trolling going on recently are the Cats fans trying to "get back" at being called out for the $$$ comments.

You are quoting a different Anon.
Those weren't my words.
The general claim of being rich was hilarious, the funniest one being the SC6017 comment highlighted by me.

"You know whats lamer? Waiting til Dazz posts so you can continue to bag him...
Are you that unaware that you are actually adding less value to the forum by continually trying to bully him?"
+1 to that. You may not agree with everything he says but its a damn better read then the sledging he receives which offers nothing to the forum.

"Dazz now boasting amount how rich his team is as if we aren't already aware of it.
Bragging about money?
So very lame."
"The criticism is of the SC6017 comment not Dazz. Keep up."
Oh sure, how silly of me for thinking Dazz was being criticised!

Looking back the original comment was by Wildcats fan SC6017: "We're a multi million dollar franchise"
LOL....
that suggests the franchise is worth that much (equity).
Hence the critique above.
"We're a multi million dollar franchise" = hahaha quote of the year

Dazz actually said that they would have the biggest budget out of the remaining four teams. Do you agree or disagree with that?

Yeah compared to other NBL clubs. But in the real world all NBL clubs are marginal.

"Sure they have more revenue than any other team, but that all goes to spending on the team."
Does it? How do you know? Are they not making a profit? Does that matter?
Compared to the other clubs that don't have the same money, they are a rich club. #rocketscience101

OH BUT THEY SPEND HEAPSZZZZ MEANSZ THEY ARE LOADED AND RICH!!!111
"equity mate"

Yes, you would of won an award then.
Sure they have more revenue than any other team, but that all goes to spending on the team. Spending most if not all of your revenue leaves you with no equity. So how are they "rich"? #accounting101

"NBL teams in terms of their brand are not worth anything apart from the licence. So saying a NBL team is "rich" is comical. Cats spend a lot which is correct. Spending a lot and then calling the act of doing so "rich" is what you would expect to hear from a child."
Awards night was Monday. You're a bit late for "stupidest post of the year" award.

Notice on the Prather Press conference, Prather was sniffing.
Hope it is not a bad cold which Jameel has caught.

I thought LVs post was on point in every possible way.
The only washed up talent on the United roster is Barlow. A real coach would bring load the trophy cabinet with that team. #FACT

Stop being such a whinging bitch LV. Just because your team pissed away millions of dollars on washed up talent...

The most dire situation the Wildcats have been in was when they finished 15-19 and made the playoffs because the NBL thought it was a good idea to let 8 teams in a 12 team competition play post season. #FACT
The Cats also made the playoffs the next two seasons by finishing 7th in an 11 team competition. #FACT
Compared to those days, the Cats have a real chance. Their away record is poor, but steal one game and you'll be forcing your opponent to beat you in a game of 8 on 5 at Perth Arena. The Cats aren't really underdogs at all- no one is this year.

*looks at the spew from anonytrolls in the last ten months*
... government has succeeded in blocking access to ___-porn. lol

Are we "underdogs"?
Well I suppose yes, as we are the away team.
But it's not as though we're the scrappy fiesty semi-pros doing it on a shoestring. LOL
I'd be reasonably confident saying we have the biggest budget of any team in the finals.

"we don't know what it's like to accept mediocrity year after year."
That one had me crying with laughter..

Dazzception!

Cats earned their stripes against two top teams, Kings and MU in rounds 18 and 19 - MU at Hisense.
Be sure, they were not easy and as such, if you have overlooked and betted against the Wildcats, let me say you may be betting your wealth away.

So which is it "Meow Meow ROAR" , or "Woof Woof WOOF" ??? I'm getting lost in the animal totems/metaphors

As a Cats fan, this thread makes me cringe.
Can understand why other supporters can't stand us.
Yes we're underdogs, but it's nothing to embrace.
We're a multi million dollar franchise, and with that comes certain expectations. Stating that we're underdogs does not in any form relieve any pressure off us. All it means is that for all the money we've invested we've failed to put us in a position ahead of teams with less resources.
Cairns match up well against us, we've struggled in cairns this year, and you can say that we've controlled some of the games, and let it slip but by the same token you can argue Cairns had the desire and were more clutch.
Last 4 mins vs Melb on Sunday was another example of us struggling to close out games effectively and managing leads.

in answer to the thread title ( under- or over- it doesn't matter) the only answer is a clear yes. Woof Woof !!

You are a backward thinker my friend. Get off the Internet. This is a pointless thread.... about the cats again.

What i need is for LV to say Perth will lose by daylight and I will then know Perth will win the championship :P

Quite possibly one of the best satirical posts I've seen on this forum in quite some time.
Kudos Mr Maniac!

When you use terms like miracle and unthinkable I know your full of it. Nbl anyone can beat anyone, stop trying to act like your not super confident about the cats with this underdog crap. Personally I think they will push Taipans to 3 what happens in game 3 who knows... but if Perth were to win through to the gf and even win it wouldn't be a miracle. Save such terms for genuine sports miracles ala a 3-1 deficit or Brady's second half in the Super Bowl.
